Was this really 15.2 percent? Pours a surprisingly moderately carbonated mahogany pour with tan head. Aroma is sherry, oak, caramel, toast, and nuts. Taste is sweet up front with a drying finish. Just amazingly good and far exceeded expectations.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Thick muddy brown pour, with light brown creamy head. Aroma is butterscotch, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, very rich and enticing. Taste is, medium mouthfeel, oak, followed by sticky caramel sweetness, with a smooth finish and no real trace from the booze. A real good sipper.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours deep brown with no head. Aroma of dates, prunes, figs, raisins, muscovado, brandy and port barrel. Pretty much any sweet dried fruit you can imagine and some booze with that... Taste is mellow sweet, boozy, dark dried fruit, barrels, lingering sweet finish. Medium full, creamy body with a fair bit of carbonation to smoothen it all out a bit. I think some of the carbonation is a result of the aging, and it’s definitely doing the beer good! Very warming, though, and very boozy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
aroma: plum, caramel, apricot. appearance: dark amber pour with off-white minimal head. very little retention. lively carb bubbles, though. taste: medium sweet and salty caramel sauce, plums, and cola flavors dance lightly with bitter and charred oak. ends on a spicy alcohol note. palate: medium body, creamy texture with refreshingly live carbonation
good stuff, but the barrel integration is nowhere near that which we see in bourbon county brand barley wine. but, hey, not everyone can be jordan; some have to settle with being lebron.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours dark brown with a transient beige head and a marvelous treacle, brandy and brown sugar aroma. There is a hearty dark molasses that is so complex it is hard to describe. There is vanilla, celery, brandy and oak as well as some tastes I cannot identify. Kudos to North Coast.
