3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Lucky enough to get two bottles - one from madbeerbaron and another from robertdale. 2011 500ml bottle. Ruby brown with essentially no head. Lots of fresh brandy, sweet, malty, toffee and brown sugar, plum skins and some tannin (which seems out of place but I am not a brandy expert at all). Mild carbonation and moderate body, pleasant on the palate, maple syrup finish, little too sweet for my liking but happy to have tried this nonetheless and curious as to how this develops over time.

Deep brown brew, very little head. Smells decadent and complex - dark fruit, booze, oak, vanilla. Flavor follows suit w/ caramel, toffee, brandy, wood. Wow.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pour is deep, clear brownish red with a small layer of tan foam. Aroma is sweet, fruity toffee with hints of roasted malt, light tobacco, distant alcohol, and light maple syrup. Really wonderful aroma. Flavor is true to nose (thankfully). Big and rich toffee malt up front with burnt caramel notes, light vanilla/ fruity notes, a touch of alcohol, and a long toffee finish. Rich, smooth mouth feel. Wow. Really extraordinary.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A 2011 bottle. It pours a deep brown with a bubbly tan head and lacing. The aroma has lots of brandy, along with some raisin and plum. The flavor is strong malt and brandy up front with a syrupy, sweet finish over a heavy, slightly spicy body.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 20/20
2011 edition. Dark burned caramel color, lots of fizz, not much foam resulting. Rich sweet aroma, figs, milk chocolate, brandy fruitiness, like a sumptuous chocolate cake. Flavor to match, molasses, maple, brandy and alcohol are more prominent than with the aroma, almond or cherry, a little wood and roast to finish. Phenomenally complex. Even though the alcohol is detectable it is hard to fathom that this is 15 abv. Stellar brew.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2014 Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is earth, wood, must, spice, leather, brandy and aged fruits. The taste is smooth, earth, vinous, sherry, dried fruits, fig, fruit cake, earth, leather, light alcohol, hot cross bun and candy with a lingering, warming finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Interesting and good depth to it. Rather nice!
