4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2011 vintage bottle. Ruddy deep orange-red-brown, sediment-laden body, thin ring of beige carbonation. Huge oxidized brandy and salty, caramely nose with notes of butterscotch. The brandy element is strong, complementing toasty sugars, oak, and warming alcohol notes. Dry. A tad like french toast with maple syrup. Yum.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Corked bottle poured into a mini snifter. It says 2011 as the vintage. Pours a darker coper to ruby with no head. The aroma is very boozy. Musty maple syrup and cheese. The taste is really sweet with a musty heat coming across on the back end. Thick, sticky body with low carbonation.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 edition, opened in 2014. Aroma is amazing - lots of stone fruit, apple, fig/raisin. Taste is explosive - all of these wonderful fruits along with toffee, caramel, and the warming alcohol. Too thin to be creamy, but great mouth feel. Great malt backbone. Improves as it warms....just a great beer experience.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Two bottles from the store, saving one for a trade or special occasion. At 15.2%, you wonder if the alcohol will be over powering. Surprisingly, the alcohol fits well within the complexity of the beer. The appearance is murky, off reddish brown, little or no head. toffee, nuts, caramel, raisins, figs, sweet butterscotch are some of the flavors you pick up on the taste. The palate was the best for me, as it was creamy and slightly sticky like you were drinking candy (due to the brandy). However, the malt backbone was present long enough to give the beer balance. The aftertaste was very complex and seemed to change a lot as the beer warmed up as well as my palate. Definitely an after dinner or special occasion beer. 2011 cellar edition

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
2011. Poured from a bottle into tulip glass. Light brown color with minimal head. Despite being 3 years old, still had quite the carbonation on it. Very boozy, but the heat is never overbearing or too hot. Considering this is 15% it's incredibly smooth. Possibly even smoother than bourbon county due to this beer being a bit lighter in body. The brandy adds a nice element and stands out amongst the usual bourbon barrel aged beers. Wish I had more.

14/II/14 - 500ml bottle @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - BB: n/a - 2011 vintage (2014-193) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!
Little cloudy red to rusty brown beer, no head. Aroma: alcohol, lots of raisins, some apple skin, caramel, vanilla notes, bit sourish, chocolate, woody. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: very very oxidized, lots of alcohol, raisins, lots of sherry notes, sugary, bit sourish, woody tannins, jenever (gin), bit spicy. Aftertaste: oxidized, sherry, plum jam, prunes, raisins, some vanilla, caramel, more oxidized flavours. Did not particularly enjoy this very much. The Bourbon version was WAY more impressive!

2011 Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a cloudy brown with beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong brandy, oak, figs, and raisins. Medium mouthfeel with rich brandy, raisin, dark fruit, oak, and light boozy finish. Very impressive.

50cl, at 15.2%Vol, as Old Stock Cellar Reserve 2011 ’Aged in Brandy Barrels’, exclusive American brew, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex brew, alcoholic/sweet and slightly woody/spicy, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet very expensive!, WOW!
