4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Shared with Jasonmech77 and Mr Bendo. Poured dark brown with an off white head. Aroma of brandy, fruit, malt, candy, and vanilla. An absolute beautiful nose. Very complex flavors of the above. More vanilla and a smooth brandy finish. Extremely drinkable. Thanks Dough77 for suppling me with this gem.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
2011 bottle. Pours dark hazy burnt brown with no head or lacing. Smell is caramel, brandy, oak, dark fruits, plum, vanilla, and booze. Taste follows, with sweet caramel, brandy, dark fruit, vanilla, tobacco, brown sugar and candy. Ends with a slight dry oak-ness, very boozy.. Incredible!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 20/20
2011 edition. Dark burned caramel color, lots of fizz, not much foam resulting. Rich sweet aroma, figs, milk chocolate, brandy fruitiness, like a sumptuous chocolate cake. Flavor to match, molasses, maple, brandy and alcohol are more prominent than with the aroma, almond or cherry, a little wood and roast to finish. Phenomenally complex. Even though the alcohol is detectable it is hard to fathom that this is 15 abv. Stellar brew.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to dmac for the trade. Pours clear, deep brown with a fine, off-white head. Rich nd dynamic aroma, lots of aged dark fruits, figs, dates, brown sugar. Big sweet flavor with rich, semi-dark malts, lots of liquified fruits, figs and dates galore, brown sugar, sugary bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Light warmth to finish, lots more hefty, ripe and dried fruits, sugary bread, slight oxidation, rich caramel, toffee, mild bitter leaves, rich figs. Hefty, decadent.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2014 Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is earth, wood, must, spice, leather, brandy and aged fruits. The taste is smooth, earth, vinous, sherry, dried fruits, fig, fruit cake, earth, leather, light alcohol, hot cross bun and candy with a lingering, warming finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Interesting and good depth to it. Rather nice!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2011 vintage bottle. Ruddy deep orange-red-brown, sediment-laden body, thin ring of beige carbonation. Huge oxidized brandy and salty, caramely nose with notes of butterscotch. The brandy element is strong, complementing toasty sugars, oak, and warming alcohol notes. Dry. A tad like french toast with maple syrup. Yum.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Corked bottle poured into a mini snifter. It says 2011 as the vintage. Pours a darker coper to ruby with no head. The aroma is very boozy. Musty maple syrup and cheese. The taste is really sweet with a musty heat coming across on the back end. Thick, sticky body with low carbonation.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 edition, opened in 2014. Aroma is amazing - lots of stone fruit, apple, fig/raisin. Taste is explosive - all of these wonderful fruits along with toffee, caramel, and the warming alcohol. Too thin to be creamy, but great mouth feel. Great malt backbone. Improves as it warms....just a great beer experience.
