January 21st, 2012 - North Coastís PranQster is a lovely ode to the Belgian flavor profile. The smell begins with a cleansing dose of lemon, and polished by sweeter, smoother scents like squished, ripe banana and a generous infusion of vanilla bean. The palate is sudsy, bright and even a little uplifting, as it delivers more copious lemon flavor, orange and white grape, filling the mouth corner-to-corner with bright, acidic, fruity flavors. A subtler wheat note is present too, and its just shy of being too light. The finish features a soft white grape note to round out a refreshingly sweet Belgian brew.

FROM NOTES: July 10, í12
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tulip glass.
A: Light cream, pleasant yeast, and some nice toasted malt. Aroma is moderate in strength.
A: Pours a clear golden color with a white head upon pouring that dissipates quickly leaving a very small layer of foam on top. Very little lacing whatsoever.
T: Follows the nose, but more robustly. Good yeasty flavor is supported by light citrus and banana notes. Reminds me of apple juice at the finish.
P: Medium bodied with lively carbonation, seems about right for style.
O: Another quality brew from North Coast. Pranqster is a well done American interpretation of the Belgian Strong Pale style thatís easy enough to drink, yet big enough to savor.

Ok this is slightly sweeter the RRís "damnation".....Itís lovely to behold, ducks-butt head that disappears quick w/a quack.....fluffy stuff. Taste is superb. Iím going to have to head to head this with Damnation. Those yeasty esters are banana-like with a nice spice zing. Ginger a bit. nutty mid palate with bananaís racing around. Finish is the clincher for me. Those esters now after 5 minutes with out a sip? slightly and perceptively, a candy like fade. This is terrific. .

From the 12 fl oz bottle with no bottling or expiration date. It pours golden with good carbonation and a white fizzy head. The aroma is subtle with toasted biscuit malts, a touch of lemongrass, yeast, and mild hops. The body is light to medium. The taste comes up a little more on the bitter side than the aroma suggests. Citrus zing too. Lingering finish.

On tap @ BJís: Typical Belgian Ale nose - Belgian yeast and spice with hints of orange. Pours a cloudy light amber with no head or lacing. The taste follows the nose. Belgian yeast, spices, a bit of sweetness, and some burn/ pepper in the finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, an enjoyable Belgian Ale.

Has become one of my favorite belgian style beers, especially based on value for money. Pours a light golden color with a nice thick head. Taste slightly fruity, and as I describe these beer "belgiany". Very good on a hot or cold day and a high enough alcohol content to give you a good buzz.
