3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours cloudy golden with a touch of sediment and a light white head. Nose if fairly bland and typical of the style, with candied sugar, oranges, coriander, and a touch of floral hops. Flavor is very bready and reminds me of a german hefe; bread and light hops quickly move to a generic sweet fruit, spice, and a little alcohol before fading fast on the backside. Finish is weak. Decent ale but nothing to brag about.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Cloudy hazy golden honey colour with traces of dirt-like yeast sediments; Half finger head and white foam which fades in 30 seconds;
Small sticky lacing and barely visible carbonation; Quite fragrant and sweet aroma of malt, with strong orange peel, orange juice, coriander, light floral, Bel yeast, sugar and cloves; Sweet taste of malt, with alcohol, strong orange flesh and peel, coriander, molasses, Bel yeast, cloves, phenol, lemon, strong liquorices and sharp herbal hops; Close to light body, pretty dry and slick palate; Mouth feel is essentially a strong-tasting and alcoholic Belgian White. Full of orange, coriander, cloves and Bel yeast. Very wheaty, dry and crisp; Booze is very evident but not screaming or overtly sweet. Okay… Hoppiness is orange floral in nose, strong lemon and herbal grass taste; Liquorices is quite strong for a decent, mildly bitter finish; Dry after taste. Crisp, sweet and slightly boozy to mouth.
Comments: This one is second banana to Hoegaarden Grand Cru. It’s a good intent for a strong Belgian White, but with a watery body, poor head retention, potent booziness, and lacking variety in taste dimension - otherwise it’s okay-ish decent and deceptively easy to drink. A textbook case of “effort alone is not enough”. Not bad, but I still prefer HGC.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a faded apricot with a three finger whiteness that fades fast. Smells of coriander, belgian yeast and a hint of orange peel. Pretty decent nose. Flavor is like a witbier and is really nicely orchestrated. Has floral notes to the yeast and hints of cream and grass. The coriander and orange peel also still play a form here. Medium bodied with lower carb and a forgettable finish. Overall a decent beer, great for a hot day.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle to a glass. Pours a cloudy yellow with an off white head that dissipates quickly. Smells like apple juice. Lots of nice musty fruity flavors. Could stand a bit more body. ABV content is deceitful.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Love this beer. Tastes like a classic belgian ale, but without the higher ABV which could make Pranqster an excellent session beer. Very clean, very crisp. Almost with an apple taste.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
January 21st, 2012 - North Coast’s PranQster is a lovely ode to the Belgian flavor profile. The smell begins with a cleansing dose of lemon, and polished by sweeter, smoother scents like squished, ripe banana and a generous infusion of vanilla bean. The palate is sudsy, bright and even a little uplifting, as it delivers more copious lemon flavor, orange and white grape, filling the mouth corner-to-corner with bright, acidic, fruity flavors. A subtler wheat note is present too, and its just shy of being too light. The finish features a soft white grape note to round out a refreshingly sweet Belgian brew.
