COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian Ales represent the height of the brewers’ art. Sophisticated brewing techniques, yeast blends and unique flavoring elements have elevated the beers of Belgium to the status enjoyed by wine in other countries. PranQster follows in this tradition using a mixed culture of antique yeast strains that results in a floral nose, a full fruity flavor and a clean finish.

Pours a hazy gold colour, with a foamy white head that leaves a spotty lace. On the palate the spiciness is more evident, malty, fruity, apple notes, slight alcohol warming, slight tanginess.

Bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is citric and yeasty, and the flavour is bitter with lemony citrus and a thick yeasty finish. Overall a reasonable but basic beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

"a little too much of the belgian spicyness in this beer. complex, but in this case, it’s almost a complicated mess with the flavor. i can appreciate that it;s a decent beer, but it’s not for me. better on tap."

Transfer from BA review on 4-12-14- Served on tap in a chalice glass Appearance – The beer is served a super hazy orange amber color with a two finger head of a pure white foam. The head has a decent level of retention fading over time to leave a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is big and bready with lots of yeasty smells mixed within. Along with these smells are some biscuit and orange smells along with a rather strong showing of a Belgian spice smell of clove and coriander. Some light bubblegum and a bit of a grainy and grassy smell round of the aroma producing a rather bready and malty triple smell overall. Taste – The taste begins with a thick biscuit and slightly grainy taste with a whole lot of yeastiness mixed within. As the flavor advances the graininess increases with the biscuit growing a bit lighter. The yeastiness of the brew remains relatively constant, but flavors associated with the yeast increase as the taste moves on. Spice flavors of clove and coriander, which are light upfront, get stronger and stronger as the taste advances to the end. Along with the spice some sweeter flavors also grow with some candied sugar and a bit of an orange growing in potency. Some grass and hay join the taste at the very end with the grainy tastes at this point on the quite high side, which when mixed with all the other flavors of the brew, leave one with a somewhat oddly bready and grainy malted Belgian triple flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average to slightly lower side. A higher carbonation and slightly thinner body may have been nice for the fruit and yeasty flavors for the brew, all while both downplaying the graininess a bit, which would have been more appropriate for the style. Overall – A pretty interesting Belgian style ale. A bit more on the grainy side with a somewhat drier taste but all the while pretty easy drinking. While nothing super extraordinary it was rather tasty and is at least worth a try if you have never had it.

Bottle from GGBF 2014. Poured a hazy, light golden colour, with a thin white head. Aroma of juicy fruits, Belgian yeast and grapes. Bready malt flavour, with some straw and sultanas. Finish was yeast esters, soft fruit and satsumas.
