Malt and hops are beautifully married in this full-bodied, copper-red Pale Ale. Red Seal Ale is generously hopped in the traditional manner for a long, spicy finish.

Clear copper colour with medium white head. Lovely spicy and earthy aroma sits atop a nice deep caramel backing. A touch of citrus fruit also present. Thin-medium body with crisp carbonation. Fairly dry with a lovely spiciness. Nicely balanced bitterness that packs a kick along with a tingly finish.

Pours amber with little head retention. Grainy, malt nose. Malt/hop balance on the palate through to a bitter, dry, refreshing finish. Overall, just okay, a session beer not to think about.

12oz bottle - Aroma - fruity, hoppy aroma, light vinous notes, well dry hopped it seems Appearance - amber body, thick and creamy 2-finger head, long retention Mouthfeel - thin bodied, light-medium carbonation Flavor - caramel flavor with copious amounts piney hops to keep it NC. Not complex in any way, but it’s not trying to be. Overall - one of the better amber ales available, balance is defined here.

"more bitter with tighter carbonation for a different mouthfeel than the other good pales, but definitely one of the best. the pub usually has a casked aged (very mellow) version as well, if you’re not into the bitter, aromatic brews as much."

ARH (707) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 14, 2014
12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Sweet roasted malt aromas strike the nose first followed by floral and roasted notes. Toffee, berries, citrus, a light spicy, slight yeast, sugar, and cream are also present in minor tones. The beer appears oily amber orange color with a slight haze and a soft foamy, off-white head. A modest, messy puffy lace is left on the glass and a good amount of head is retained with a big cream puff island and a medium thick, sudsy ring. The taste is a balanced, medium light sweet and bitter. The medium-light bodied beer has a thin and sticky texture with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Spice and caramel come through on the palate with a floral, citrus, and spice finish. It’s dry and lightly astringent with a light, but long lingering, spiciness and malty aftertaste.

Golden pour with a thin but long lasting off white head. Malty aroma, a little herb/floral note too. Sweetish, caramel, light floral and citrus taste. Nice, easy drinking, not too complicated.
