COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Pours a golden yellow, looks light, tiny haze. Small dissipating head, aroma is yeasty. Taste is sweet, and light. As an IPA, porter and stout drinker I find this pilsner without flavor and watery .....so in fairness to one my favorite Breweries cannot really rate this in all fairness. Nevertheless, l will leave this to lager lovers. Quaff score 2 / 10 Boring, where is the taste !!!

Pours a rusty gold with a white head and malty aroma. Flavor is sweet, nice balance of malts and hops, with a dry, slight bitter finish. Drinkable pilsner from North Coast, but nothing special.

12oz bottle - One finger of snow white froth. Bright yellow color. Carbonation coming from bottom of glass. Clean aroma. Good flavor of Noble hops. Most definitely a good lawn mower beer. Surprised I’ve never had this before since it’s a North Coast product. I’d buy it again. Especially if I’m taking it to a party where people were not beer geeks.

Tap. Pours a deep golden with a small off white head. Aroma of grain, caramel and floral and spicy hops. Taste is pretty much the same. Not as crisp with a bit too much caramel, but nice anyway.

(Bottle) Pours light hazy deep golden with an off-white head. The aroma holds sweet white bread, light toffee, light fruits and light metal. Undertones of grassy hops and cardboard-like oxidation. The flavour is light sweet and light bitter with tones of wet cardboard, white bread, metal and light fruits alongside a vegetal hint. The mouthfeel is a bit unclean and round (I like my lager a bit "tighter" palate wise) with a light carbonation. Metallic finish. Medium bodied.

Poured into a pils glass. 3.0 A: Clear golden wheat color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is just shy of average and just the slightest touch of lacing is left. 3.0 S: Nose is pretty boring, even for the style, but it is pleasant enough. Grainy and lightly biscuity malts with a touch of neutral sweetness. Very faint floral hoppiness. 3.0 T: Slightly more interesting that the nose, but still not a lot of flavor. Clean grainy malts with a soft balancing bitterness and the slightest bit of earthy hops. 3.5 M: Light body. Good moderate carbonation. Really easy to drink. 3.5 D: This beer would be really easy to pound one after another. It’s super clean and easy to drink, but the downside is that there isn’t much going on. On tap and served in a tall pilsner glass at DMK Burger Bar in Lombard, IL., displaying a clear, bright, golden color, with a moderate amount of white head foam that reduced rather quickly to a ring & light film, and left some spots & streaks of lacing. The aroma was light grain and a touch of sweetness, but also some apple/cidery hints, and a wisp of vinegar. The flavor was less affected by the off notes, and presented a light+ body with low hop bitterness, a presentable crispness, and light dryness on the finish. Finished only 1/2, which is a rarity for me.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy medium yellow with a 1.5 finger head which settles into a nice cap over the beer. Good lacing as well. Aroma is sweet malt with some honey detectable. Not much in the way of hops. The taste is much like the smell. Sweet malt along with a touch of bready grain. A small hint of grassy hops is detectable however bitterness is low to moderate. Finishes fairly clean. This is a good, clean, thirst quenching beer. I would have liked a touch more bitterness and a little less sweetness but I would seek it out again.
