Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Bottle pour. This was okay. Aroma is pure Pilsener but I thought the taste was a little off. Okay.

Rating #1189 - 18.07.2014 - On tap @revolutionyeg. Clear yellow colour, nice white foam, medium retention. Aroma is pleasant, generously hopped. Mouthfeel is bubbly and crisp, medium carbonation. Taste is hint of sweet malt, dries out in the fairly smooth finish with a nice hoppy presence. Delicious.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2015 From a 12oz bottle into a Mad Elf tulip glass. Pours gold with head and lace. Aroma of grains, light pepper, malts, hay. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of grains, wheat, amber malts, light herbs, minerals, slight tropical fruit rind sweetness. Overall flavorful, refreshing, zesty.

Bottle. Citrus, grainy barley malt, and straw aroma. Golden yellow with giant white head. Sweet lemon, barley malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Decent body.

Glass bottle. No expiry date. So who knows.

Pours a honey color. About one finger head. Doesn’t last long. Does leave a little around the edge of the surface. No lacing.

Aroma is light. Not a lot of anything. Breadiness. Lemon zest. That’s about all.

I might as well be drinking bread. That’s about all I can taste. Again there is some citrus or lemon in there. It tastes pretty good but there’s not much to say about it.

Mouthfeel is medium. It tastes light. It finishes slightly bitter but smooth.

Overall its okay. I think its slightly off for a pilsner. Not as good as I expected or hoped for, but still not bad.

Into a tulip chilled. Pastel orange and hazy with a lot of protein caught in suspension. Nose hints at gooseberries and blackbutt honey, pot pourri, leavened dough and a hint of cough medicine that is just a little leftfield. Buttery, caramel and soapy on the palate saying that this sample is a little over ’consume by’. Prickly carbonation lets way to a soft finish that hints at pepper and stale hops. Diacetyl slick with a hint of sherry that builds, I’m guessing maybe two years or more in the bottle. Need a fresh one..., quick like! (12fl.Oz, no date stamp, Int’l Beer Shop, Leederville)
