Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Pours yellow golden from bottle, decent white head. Minimal malty aroma. Taste is sweet on front end, light malt complexity, negligible hoppy bitterness. Light body with medium carbonation. Overall refreshing but not hoppy enough for a Pilsner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska från Craftbeer/Galatea. Smak och doft av humle, malt, smör med toner av blomster och gräs. Lagom sötma, lätt kropp och beska.

Tap...good Pils with biscuit and grass with some noble hop flavors, however these were secondary to the malt.

Trevlig.

Mild aroma, with corn, grass, and a little skunk that breathed off after a few minutes. Flavor is lightly sweet a mild, with a little grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Nothing spectacular, but good, solid beer.

poured from brown bottle into a pilsner glass A: Pours a finger of frothy tight head. Dark gold color. Hazy. Good head retention and lacing. Lace pattern left all the way up the glass at the end. S: Light smell of the hops with crisp bread at the back. Inviting carbonation rising. T: Crisp bread/biscuit, hops seem almost an afterthought at first. I love the malt profile of this beer. Subtly grainy but very pronounced crackers/crusty bread. Maybe hard for the hops to keep up but they do come through on the finish as slightly piny. Hops are there but thankfully NC saw no need to have them overpower the biscuit and grain. Malty but this fortunately does not strike me as sweet although if left to warm, the malts will become overbearing. M: Silky, soapy. Carbonation is nice and tingly. Somehow a bit heavy for a pils. O: One of my current favorites. Definitely in my top 3! I love this and consider it a great representation of the style, even if a bit far to the malty side. The low ABV is also quite a plus to me. Perfect summer brew. I would drink these all the time if they weren’t so damned expensive ($11/6).
