Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Bottle. Yellow pour with a decent amount of head and a good amount of lacing for a pilsner. Smells of yeast and slight hops. Tastes of the same with a very slight bready finish. Good for a pilsner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a light gold with a small white head. Aroma is sort of floral with some bready notes. A light body: flavors of honey, bread, fruits, and spices. This is the best Pilsener I’ve had, though that’s not saying much. Good for summertime cookouts and for those times where you want something a little more mellow.

Not bad for a pilsner, but pretty boring nonetheless. Pours a nice slightly cloudy orange with a white head. Not much of any smell. Taste is similar, refreshing, but bland. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Three Penny Taproom. Clear golden with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma of grains, noble hops and hints of sweetness. Taste is slightly sweet with grains and spicy hops. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Clean. Drinkable and refreshing, but could be crispier.

The aroma smells like dough yeast and bread malts, and the appearance is a slightly hazy pale yellow color with a small white head. The taste is mildly sour and a touch sweet, which isn’t that appealing, and the palate combines an average carbonation, medium body, slick texture, and a long sour finish.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2013 Pours a pale yellow color with thick two finger head. Smell is of cloves, some hops and some malts. Smooth light citrus and hop taste with clean dry finish. Great for a hot day.

Not a bad pilsner. It’s got some good hops and malt. Good with a slice of pizza.

355ml bottle from The Beer Cellar. It has some good colour for a pilsener and is not thin and pale looking like any pilseners. Also has a lot more flavour and body than a lot of pilseners I have ad. I am slowly warming to this style.

Pours amber with a small white head. Nose shows honey, light spicy, earthy and herbal hops and some bready malt. Very similar flavours; more honey, bready malt and spicy hops. More carbonation is needed, pretty low at the moment.
