Bottle. The pour is a light golden color with some haze. The aroma is light and citrus with some of the booziness coming through. The agave comes through with nice fruit tones. The barrel is very present. Different and interesting beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A frothy off white head quickly dissipates to clusters of large bubbles encompassing a clear vibrant amber body

Creamy, juicy sweet, tannin drenched pear, apple, and floral notes reminiscent of champagne with a rounding accent of agave syrup cut by moderate levels of smooth alcohol warmth on a coating, dense, medium plus body finishing with spicy, creamy barrel notes, solid flavor intensity, decent complexity, solid transitions, fairly approachable considering the strength

Risk of gushing

16.9oz 12.9% cork and cage served at 58º into TeKu, aged for approximately one year at 55-60º

On tap at Parry's. Pours gold with a medium white, foamy head. Not much aroma at all. Tastes crisp and clean with a bit of hops and a dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

BLADT (507) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - JUN 19, 2014
Bottle pour. Semi-opaque rich orange. Boozey nose, with cork and licorice. Taste replicates the olfactory notes, folding in Belgium yeast, dark fruit. Hot on the palate.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a average white head. Fruity aroma with oak, honey, vanilla and caramel. Flavor was quite sweet with caramel, oak, honey, vanilla and some subtle dark fruit. Medium-full body, moderate carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel.

chinchill (1711) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 10, 2014
Dark bottle with cork and wire served in a Belgian snifter. Both the aroma and the flavor are quite fruity. The lightly sweet flavor suggests golden raisins and ripe apricots, but has a good bit of tartness too. An unusual component in the taste may be the agave. Pronounced BBL influence on the aroma, with more moderate BBL effects on he flavor. Feel: Medium body and carbonation. Notable warming O: a fine, refreshing sipper.

OleR (4786) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 3, 2014
Hazy dark gold. Fine-bubbled beige head. Light fruity nose, mellow with a yeasty note. Hot and slick on the palate. Medium full. Taste is vinous-fruity and quite so oxidized. Yet inviting, with a note of malt drops, cob-web and dust. Alcoholic endnotes. [Shared bottle at larsga’s, 20.08.14]

I probably don't have the palate to enjoy this because I'm a noob and I like hella hops bro. It's like someone mixed a bottom shelf twist top Chardonnay with a splash of triple sec and let it get a tan in the Central Valley heat for an afternoon. One day I'll grows up and appreciate fusel notes and jamminess. Are those things?

First of all, this is not the same beer as the Grand Cru (which I’m reviewing). Even North Coast say it’s only "reminiscent of... [the] Twentieth Anniversary Ale." Aged 3 years (2011 vintage), this is a bold orange, clear-bodied ale. It managed to maintain a really frothy, bright white head over the years, with no trace of precipitated yeast. The nose is powerful, sweet, and fruity, with a mature, complex aroma of alcohol blending well with the sweetness. It almost smells like a white wine blended with a light liquor. A unique potency rules the aroma and infers without obstruction that this is a serious ale. Fortunately, the beer is even more classy than I expected once it’s in the mouth. At first something reminds me of cough syrup, but on the lighter end, a bit like white wine, sweetened with fermented fruits. A ghostly presence of wooden barrels and bourbon character carries through the whole experience, but really surfaces in the finish. It’s so complex, and I’m in love with the alcohol presence. This could easily have been off-kilter, but because of the beer’s fruity sweetness the light body and high alcohol it all pans out quite beautifully. The finish is sweet, and something about it reminds me slightly of a Belgian tripel or low-roast quad. Its still very American, though, and I do believe that this glass has topped my day. As well-balanced as it is, it’s still bold and powerful, even after three years. Nothing is awkward about the beer after three years of aging, and I could see this beer easily aging into eternity without any serious negative issue.
