On tap. Copper color with one finger off white head. Malt and spice aroma. Taste is more malty. Nothing special.

(bottle) Pours a copper-red color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Aroma holds a strong note of toasted malt, some chocolate undertones, and a scent reminiscent of a spiced date bar. Flavor is full of the toasted malt, with a semi-sweet and spicy component that turns really dry and somewhat off-putting on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is fizzy. Overall a pretty nondescript beer that was pleasant enough to drink.

This was a pretty regular winter beer. A bit of spice, some malts, caramel. Not too crazy.

Draught pint. Appearance is hazy orange color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is caramel and bready. Taste is similar with caramel sweetness and slight herbal bitterness, but not much flavor. Palate is medium-bodied, smooth texture, and a semi-dry finish.

Aroma is caramel malts and spices/a small hint of heat. The flavor is caramel/caramel malts, spices, oily and a mix of sour, tart and a hint of heat in the finish.

Smooth body. Copper reddish and clear. Nice head and warm flavor, but has a strange bitter aftertaste

it’s pretty heavily spiced...and not well. I love North Coast, but after giving this beer a second, third chance, etc, I won’t drink it again. Easily their weakest offering ever."

Bottle gift from SJ. Some funk, herbs, caramel and spice. Brew warmed my chest as it went down. Got better as it warmed up. Body was thin.

12oz bottle (Old Notes)-Pours a darker brown with a small head. Aroma of spices and malt. Taste of the same with more spices. This medium to full bodied brew is a nice little holiday brew.

[Tap] Pours a deep, dark brown color. Very little head on top. Aroma of roasted malts. More spice in the taste. Cocoa powder, nutmeg, sticky molasses, light wood smoke and tobacco in the flavor. A little thinner than expected. Low carbonation levels. OK overall. Tasting notes from 2/2014.
