3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This brew poured a large head of mostly lasting fine to medium sized off-white bubbles and a transparent softly carbonated amber colored body. Its aroma contains mostly malt with some hops barely noticable. Its light vinuous alcohol flavor is well hidden by some malt and some spice and a hint of caramel. The mouthfeel is slightly tingly.

The head was medium sized and ivory with fine-medium bubbles. The body was carbonated and slightly cloudy. The hue was amber and the lacing had a nice appearance on the sides of my glass. The nose was that of hops, clove and spice. The flavor was somewhat bitter and the mouthfeel was tingly, medium bodied and smooth.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Slight hop aroma. Good head and lacing, amber color. Malty enough, but way overcarbonated. A little sour in the finish. Good thing I got this for cheap.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Definately a wierd time to be drinking a Winter seasonal, but it was available, and i've never had it, so I bought it! The colour is a thin darker amber with a slightly off-white head. Smells of malt and sugar arise with some other vegetably smells. The taste is almost completely of malt with some potent hop kick. Definately not what I was expecting from a seemingly great brewery. I guess I'll give them next year to make up on this one, but I was not impressed in the slightest bit with this one. The aftertaste is a bit malty and bittering, but definately not complex. I bought this in a twelve ounce bottle at Dean & Deluca in Washington (Georgetown).

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Color is a nice dark glowing amber, one finger high head of creamy tight evennesswhich is dark ivory in hue. Settles slowly leaving a good skim and ring with stringy lace that drips morphing into spots. Smell is of musty fruits, orangish, grassy, earthy in tone, but is quite soft. Taste starts quickly with a sharp feel of very dulled sweet malts and stingey hops, then grabs into a dark orangy twang, somewhat earthy and musty. The flavors meld together well but aren't very strong, its pretty light and uneventful. Feel is a solid medium body, starts strong with a good thickness, thats a little tough to swallow and fades into a creamy smoothness with a very light lingering tang. Could make for a good session beer, but beyond that it may be a passable offering for the style.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep, crystal clear amber beer with a large, frothy, ivory head. Mostly lasting with excellent, thick lacing.
The nose is malty and very yeasty (bread dough) with huge shots of maple syrup and winter spices. Allspice and maybe cinnamon? Dark fruit as well.
The flavor is of Russian black bread, alcohol, clove and oak up front. Very well-balanced with a moderately bitter hop presence and earthiness on the backside.
Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Long, yeasty, spicy and dry finish. A very nice winter warmer... even in the Spring!

Nothing special. No nutmeg? why not? Very acidic and not much warming about it.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 20/20
Seems Aubrey and I are the only ones who smell smoke in this brew. I think it's practically a rauchbier, it's so smoky. The spiciness is mild. It's really the malt that's pronounced. Again, very SMOKY, but also yeasty, like halfway to a weissbier. Excellent!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Somewhat amber with a decent enough head. Some spices in the nose and taste. Fair amount of maltiness and a good balance. But...Rather non-descript. I expected something bold about the beer, being a winter offering and in comparison to some of their others. OK, but still disappointing.
