Cask Gravity, The Crown Summer BF 09, Nuneaton. I’ve just spat hot tea all over my monitor and keyboard reading my notes for this beer. They just say, "Thin rimmed red gold, meaty catbiscuit aroma. Mildew, musty old books, dust, unwashed vegetables. WRONG." It certainly tastes like a pig’s been wriggling in it at some stage during the brewing process, and surely isn’t a fair representation of the general quality of this brewer’s beers. One for the spittoon.

Cask (handpump) @ The Crown & Kettle, 2 Oldham Road, Northern Quarter, Manchester, Greater Manchester England M4 5FE.
Clear medium yellow amber color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, light yeasty, sewage, apple notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090124]

Bottle. Amber appearance. Very bitter with a well defined sharpness. Distinctive but too overpowing for my taste.

Dark orange. Not an appealing aroma: metallic and quite artificial. The taste is slightly sour, rather bitter, and has overtones of stale biscuit. Wouldn’t want a session on this.

Minimal aroma, maybe some light hops. Taste has bittering hops, maybe a little grassy, very easy drinking.

Cask Conditioned at The Dun Cow, Hornton, Oxon. Reddish amber with bubbly head. Thinnish boys bitter, light on flavours but a decent finishing hoppy bitterness. No massive impact, although there is some lemony tanginess, but mostly an easy drinking, if somewhat bland bitter.
