Guaranteed to straighten you antler and warm your doe. This West Coast style of stout is one of McIntyre’s favorites.

Pours a very dark brown. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, and coffee. Very good stout.

Can. Pours a clear dark brown body under a large frothy dark brown head. The nose is burnt and roasty malt with some espresso, moderate hoppiness. The flavor is fairly dry up front with some nice coffee and roasted malt. A fairly hefty hop bite on the finish. Lighter bodied with a thinnish texture and minimal soft carbonation. Not the most exciting Stout, but it’s pretty solid.

Can from unknown via trade, forgetting who from. Pours an opaque black-brown, decent amount of tan head. Warm milk chocolate nose, sweet, not really any roasted notes. Body lively and a bit roasty, finish well-balanced. I dig this.

Can from Whole Foods. Pours fairly turbid dark brownish black with tan head. Nose is dark malt, cacao, molasses, hops. Tastes dark malty, with notes of cacao, vanilla, and a slight off-putting flavor at the finish, and a somewhat watery palate. This one is OK, not great, and somewhat flawed.

Draft. Pours a deep brown with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma of earth, roasted coffee, and chocolate. Taste was roasty and toasty with coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy, nice stout.

12 oz can. Looks right, although the brown head doesn’t last long. Lots of roast in the nose and mouth. Some coffee as well, but not nearly as much chocolate as some. Doesn’t taste or feel like a seven percent stout, which is a negative for taste and mouthfeel, but a positive for quaffability, I suppose. Some hops in there near the end, I think. Fairly dry. A little different. Well constructed.

Pours a dark brown with a frothy one finger head. Aroma is roasted bakers chocolate with hints of espresso. Taste is roasty with hints of vanilla, a medium body and a smooth finish. Not as sweet as I was expecting but enjoyable

Not sure what a "west coast style" stout is but this was a solid toasty stout. Dark brown-black body with a medium sized tan head and soapy lacing. Semisweet chocolate, earthy roasted malts and a touch of caramel. Medium bodied with appropriately smooth carbonation, modest sweetness and a satisfying finish.

Sample at Vintage Estate. Brownish-black pour with a thick tan head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, roasted coffee and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.
