The discovery of the true I.P.A. (India Pale Ale) made right here in Slippery Rock. The British added hops to oak barrels to help preserve the beer for its long voyage to British-controlled India. Brewed in the same English tradition, we dry-hopped our ale, giving the beer a very aromatic quality as it travels to your mug.

On draught at the brewpub. Arrived a cloudy gold with a thin white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and laced the glass well. Pleasant citrus aroma with grapefruit most notable. The flavor is malt followed by some moderate hops bitterness. The bitterness is not overdone and lingers briefly beyond the swallow. Medium bodied. Nice solid IPA.

Orange-ish hopped yellow with a soft white head. Citrus is on the nose, and there are notes of hot lemon grass on the tongue.

Poured on draft at the source. Pours a hazy copper with a white head of foam. Aroma is citrusy and grassy. Smells nice and tastes just as good. Fruity and bitter. Probably one of the better beers sampled this day.

Pours with a slightly orange tint and an inch of white foam. Nice floral quality on the nose. The tongue has a bit of bitterness as well as some nice grapefruit. Finishes clean.

Hand bottle. Rating #21. Hazy orange/yellow pour with a thin white head. Muted pine aroma and a touch of maltiness. Flavor is pretty mild, sappy pine and a pretty nice clean finish that leaves a little bitterness on the tongue. (1574)

I.P.A. is not my style of beer, but this one is better than average. Pretty strong bitterness in the finish.

Pours a cloudy dark orange color. Big earthy hop nose. Flavor is nice and hoppy up front then turns somewhat fruity. Very drinkable IPA.

On tap at North Country. Pours a cloudy, orange-golden colored body with a finger-width, frothy and creamy, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is those sugar coated, chewable candy tangerines, oranges, and grapefruits. A bit flowery with a touch of English grass and a light amount of sweet caramel malts. Flavor is solid. A nice grapefruity, orange hop with a light grass. Not as sugary as the aroma which is nice. A thin, but balancing caramel joins the fairly juicy citrus before this slowly dries with a moderate bitterness and leaves a medium length aftertaste. Light bodied and smooth with a thin carbonation. Overall, a decent IPA. Nothing crazy, but well balanced and tasty. Probably the best beer they offer.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours clear orange/copper with a thin white head. Citrusy aroma with lots of "c" hops and some malt. Grapefruit flavor that is bitter through and through. Fairly decent IPA, and easily the best beer they had this day.
