On tap at the North End Tavern, Parkersburg WV on 11 March 2010 (noted at 5.5%). As these things go this was a pretty decent example. Golden colour. Not too sweet. Prominent fruity presence - maybe a little artificial but relatively clean. More fruit than wheat.

Drake (6488) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - AUG 18, 2011
Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy pink-tinged orange with a large creamy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of artifically flavored berry syrup with some wheat notes. The taste is wheat and berries. Dry. Thin bodied. Like so many berry wheat beers this comes across as soda-like.

Dogbrick (5993) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 18, 2007
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a light amber color with a thin off-white head that does not last long. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. The aroma is similar to Fruity Pebbles, with a bit of wheat. Light-bodied with a sweet berry flavor and touches of wheat and mild hops. The finish is short and fruity, without much aftertaste. Pretty forgettable overall.

Gold pour with creamy white head and lace. Huge berry aroma dominates the nose. Nice berry flavor and alot of wheat malt. Medium body with good carbonation. Pretty good beer.

The slight berry aroma and flavor with some fruit tartness is an improvement but definitely still not flavorful.

Approximately 3 ounce sample pour (in a plastic oversized shot glass) at the brewpub in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The pour is a light haze golden yellow with not much white head. The aroma is big berry, sort of a generic black raspberry type nose. Pretty strong, hard to pick much up beyond that. The taste is artificial berry sweetness, perhaps a bit of the wheat grain peeks through, though this is all about the synthetic berry.. The palate light bodied, the berry flavor lingers.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2010 On Tap at the NET. Appearance is a deep gold with hues of purple with a thin white head. Taste is heavy on berries and finish is very much like the finish of a wheat beer with the yeasty banana bread taste I have come to adore. One of my favorites from this brewer. I just with they had it more often.

A decent beer but not spectacular compared to their Red or Porter. Aroma of blueberries and wheat. The flavor however was not even close to the aroma. Very thin for a wheat, some faint blueberry and raspberry flavors but the whole feel of this beer was more like bud light with a splash of berry, (which is probably bud light’s next marketing campaign anyway).
