COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A solid American wheat, with a classic nose that transitions to a faint cherry aroma complimenting its rich amber gold hue. As this well-balanced and deceptively light-bodied wheat beer travels across the tongue, the willamette and perle hops hint at bitterness, followed by a crisp, clean wheat flavor that cuts to a subtle tart cherry finish. Asked to describe the flavor of Archangel, the most accurate response is: "it tastes like more.”

Bottle. Sour cherry and wheat malt aroma. Hazy amber color with explosive head. Tart cherry and wheat malt flavor. Love me some Michigan cherries.

Bottle at Beerwarming Party. Pours red-gold with a foamy, white head. Lots of wheat in this sweet aroma, with LOTS of cherries. Flavor holds wheat, bread and yeast along with sweet cherry notes. Medium in body with average carbonation Finishes sweet and lightly bitter. Pretty good.

Aroma: Ripe fruit--berries--with hints of wet leaves. Appearance: Cloudy dark gold with a thick white head that dissipates quickly but leaves lots of lacing. Taste: Immediate bitterness that quickly turns sweet and then sharp and sour. I’m sure this was purposeful and well intentioned, but it’s a bit too harsh and bitter for my tastes. Palate: Light body, crisp texture, fizzy carbonation, long, tart finish. Overall: I think this is an attempt at a Berliner Weisse with syrup added, and at that it works. But it’s too sharp and bitter for me, and while I appreciate the goal, the product just falls flat.

Reddish-orange pour with a small, short-lived, white head. Fresh sweet-tart cherry aroma with some faint yeasty esters, toffee and cereal grains. The flavor is a big burst of fresh cherries with some notes of pie spices, cereal grains, caramel and a mild spicy hop balance. Medium body with lots of carbonation.

12 ounce bottle, bottled on June 16th, 2011. Served in a Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat glass, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with a huge off-white head. I couldn’t fit the whole bottle into the glass because the head was so big, I had to wait for the head to settle down some to finish before pouring the rest of the beer into the glass. There’s only a small amount of lacing on the glass. The brew smells like bready malt, wheat and some cherries. The aroma seems to get stronger as the beer warms up some. Similar to the aroma, it tastes like wheat, bready malt, sweet/tart cherries and a bit of yeast. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a bit slick with high carbonation. Once the carbonation settles down, it’s a good drinkable brew. I wouldn’t have any problem buying this again.

12oz bottle from Jolly Pumpin in Ann Arbor, MI. Pours a crystal clear, red-gold-amber colored body with an inch thick, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is crisp wheats with some grain and a decent cherry note that is sweet, but lightly tart. Flavor has much more of a juicy cherry flavor. Somewhat sweet, slightly tart cherries up front with a crisp wheat, grain, a touch of bread, and a light herbal hopping. Finishes clean and lightly bitter with some crisp wheat, sweet and tart cherries, and grain. Medium length aftertaste following a medium-light, smooth, crisp body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a nice fruity wheat beer. The wheats are crisp and balance nicely with a mixture of sweet and somewhat tart cherries. This was very enjoyable.

Draft… RBSG 2010… Clear amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is a bit subdued, but the presence of cherry and spicy grains along with an undertone of warm mash and a trace of lactic acid is finally pulled from my glass. Medium to full-bodied with lively carbonation. Bittersweet, malty flavor with just a smidge of cherry. Finishes soothingly bitter.

Nephilium (1259) - Ohio, USA - JUN 8, 2011
This beer starts with an aroma of light wheat, tartness, and a hint of cherry. It pours an amber with a touch of red, and a gigantic white head. There’s a visible cascade of carbonation in the glass. The cherry flavor is subdued, and comes across more as a tartness. Fairly full mouthfeel for a summer beer, but not bad.

11.5 ounce bottle into weizen glass, bottled 05/12/11. Pours hazy red-orange color with a fairly foamy 2-3 fingers of off white head with great retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. A lot of bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the glass, and it also formed instant head on the pour that had to settle down. Aromas of big cherry notes, with some apple, grass, bread, and spices. Aromas are pretty weak as I would have expected, but the cherry smells quite authentic. Taste of big spiciness on the front with some cherry sweetness, light tartness, bread, and light fruits in the back. Lingering spice and fruit notes on the finish for a bit. Not much complexity going on here. Tons of carbonation with a light-medium body. Mouthfeel is quite prickly, but this still drinks very smoothly. No alcohol noticed other than a slight warming on the finish. Overall, a pretty good wheat beer that is quite refreshing. I may have it again.

Picked a bottle up while on vacation in northern Michigan. A very enjoyable wheat. There is a very slight hint of cherry. I was expecting more, hence a little disappointment. Still, pretty good.
