COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
North Peak Dubious is a Dark Chocolate Stout that has the perfect combination of chocolate, roast and black malts resulting in a smooth rich beer. Judicious use of hops bring out a complex, yet subtle bittering finished off with a big Goldings nose. This swirl of aroma, flavor and body is underscored by the rich chocolate that is added at the end of the boil. This medium bodied beer is brewed in Traverse City, MI, on Old Mission Peninsula incorporating locally grown hops.

I certainly wouldn’t call this a black beer. It’s a brown ale. Brown pour, thin head. Aroma is malty. Flavor is sweet, roasted malts. Definitely a brown ale. To look at this beer as a stout - it would rate very poorly.

A deep chocolate color with a thin white head that dies quickly A light earthy smell that could almost be missed The taste is lightly sweet lightly bitter. It is exactly what any stout should be. A smooth light body and slight finish really round this beer out nicely.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a hearty dark chocolate flavor with a dry smoky finish.

Black with a very large foamy monster of a brown crown that fades away much to slowly. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, grains, chocolate and a touch of sourness. Taste of dark roasted malts, coffee and notes of peat and very faint chocolate. Chalky and bitter

Deep dark brown coloured body, almost fully opaque with a nice dense light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol and a bit of lactose. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy malt at first, but the chocolate and roasted malt really comes out right afterwards. Aftertaste shows some vanilla, oak, lactose and especially coffee, along with the sweet chocolate. Overall, a nice and very rich beer complete with a good chocolate flavour throughout. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from [of all places] Knightly Spirits (Orange Blossom Trail) in Orlando, Florida for US$2,50 on 01-October-2015 sampled at home in Washington on Christmas Eve, 24-December-2015.
