North Peak Hoodoo Midwest Wet Hop IPA is the first of it’s kind. Brewed with fresh from the farm Michigan hops for exceptional flavor. Hoodoo is hops from start to finish with a little malt in the middle, just enough to keep Hoodoo from going Voodoo on you. not to worry - pretty much nothing but hops.

Bottle. Poured clear light copper color with an average to large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bitter hop flavor with a medium to heavy bitter finish of moderate to long duration. This is a good beer that exceeded my expectations.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Copper penny body with nice clarity & a thin bubbled, beige layer of cream on top. Aroma is pretty citric with a mild white pepper-y, herbal leafy essence underneath. Grapefruit & light lemon. Taste has some pungent, juicy grapefruit notes with some pine, hop oil, mild dankness & bitter leaves. Some malty sweetness underneath, but balanced well with a stingy bitterness that leads to a seemingly dry finish.

a nice brew - i was hesitant to purchase, due to the high price tag and at $16.99 for the sixer i probably won’t buy another. but it opens up with a strong hops presence and a bit of alcohol heat. this is definitely high-octane with hops bitterness (piney and green) and a nice pale malt background. smooth and well-executed, and an enjoyable beverage with a cute "michigan" angle.

Doesn’t look any better than an average lager, but HooDoo does pack a pretty decent hop punch. Nicely executed, but a little too one-dimensional for me. Serving: 12oz bottle

12 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have a nice resiny, mild citrus and earthy hop character, some toasted malt, very light caramel. The bottle says 8% while this lists 9%, either way it is easy to drink and I don’t get much alcohol. I sometimes overlook these, but many are pretty tasty solid beers.

A bonus from a recent trade. Pours a dark orange color with a white head. Aroma is stinky fresh hop and a bit of citrus. Flavor is medium bodied and much like the aroma. Finish is a touch pine bitter now. Decent drink with good balance and nice hops.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/1/2013. Pours moderately hazy orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest, grapefruit, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, lemon zest, grapefruit, pine resin, orange rind, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Large amount of earthy pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest/rind, pineapple, pine resin, floral, grass, bread, and light caramel on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of citrus/pine hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and very sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice wet hop IPA. All around good complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle to snifter. This year’s batch is listed as 8% on the bottle. Looks good; a transparent orange with foamy off-white head. Smells solid; a somewhat bitter hop profile with a pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smoo mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
