2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Apr 24, tap @ Jolly Pumpkin, Ann Arbor. Pours beautiful deep copper with a small off white head leaving nice lace. Aroma is citric, sweet malty and a bit hoppy. Crispy thin mouthfeel. Cloves, watery, bitter flavor. Typical Ale. Sweet fruity thin palate. Finishes shortlived sweet and slightly bitter.

On tap at Jolly Pumpkin. Clear amber with no head. Not much body to it at all but very sessionable. Excellent for a session beer.

Tap at JP in A2, Decent amber ale, it pour clear red but yet still fairly dark. It had a nice bite with a good after taste. Very drinkable beer, I would definitely have again.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours slightly hazy reddish brown, with no head. Aroma has notes of lots of crystal malt, with a touch of caramel, toffee, some earth and grass. Taste is thin, but has notes of caramel, biscuit, dark fruit, finishing harshly carbed and slightly bitter.

So this is my first north peak, thanks to vintage estates; they are always having something new there and I like that. Pour is darkish, like iced tea and has about the same amount of visible CO2. Sweeter somewhat tart aroma, hope the flavor is too. Not a bad tasting beer for an amber ale, no sign of rudeness and the initial flavor is quite interesting with some sizzling CO2 nip. Does have some tartness to it but not what the smell would indicate. Yes, has a somewhat wild feel to it and I like that. Fter the finish there is a small bitterness that builds but it never goes over the top. Good overall pleasant beer experience! Next to old mane long face and Mckenzie unicorn this is the best amber ale Iíve tasted; friendly easy and gentlemanlike, just like a beer should be; well balanced.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I had this on tap at Jolly Pumpkin, this was bar tender rec and not a great one...a very light feeling amber ale, very watery. The look is light copper, not much of a white head...The aroma is light rye and not much else. The taste is light rye, but just too light in general, nothing worth trying.

12 oz bottle
A recent addition to the Ohio beer scene is North Peak. Picking some up for a party I sampled one of the leftovers on a quiet evening. It was a decent amber ale. I can think of a few that I would go to first which are in the same price bracket but there are worse beers out there. It is certainly good enough for me not to write off North Peakís future releases.
Aroma / Appearance - The clean white head and deep amber body are plain and simple. This is a basic looking beer that shows its Michigan roots. Warmth radiates from the glass. Oak, malt balls, and crisp hops give this a simple easy balance. It is light and soft as it sits there.
Flavor / Palate - Fluid and light on the tongue as well as the eyes it sits there for a second before moving on. The cola, peanut butter pretzel bites, and bitterness wake up the palate. A residual woody finish then fades over time. I am intrigued enough to possibly get another in the future especially if I can find singles.

Amber color out of the stubby little bottle, Short lived white head. Grainy nose with some orange. Raw grain flavors with some tea and orange peel in the finish. Nothing special.

Tried in the bottle a while back but waited to I tried this on tap to rate. Dark amber pours. Sweet malty smell. Light bready malty taste with a bit of carbonation. Not much more than an improved 7 eleven bought lager.

Stubbies intrigue me. This is super sweet and overly malty. It needs some serious hop additions or some additional character. Itís just odd. Not one of my favs.
