Its call is intoxicating. An aroma that beckons you to pull up a stool and linger over its toasted malt character. Next, a deep kiss of liquid lust that will caress your tongue, thanks to an array of toasty Pale, Crystal (30 and 75), what, Carapils and roasted barley malts balanced by the subtle bite of Willamette and Fuggle hops. It’s a brew that will seduce your heart, mind and palette.

Bottle. Poured clear dark amber color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart citrus hop aroma. Medium body and a smooth texture with soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

Stubby bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and a hint of fuittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of camel and earthiness with a crisp dry lingering earthy finish.

Amber pour with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet and malty. Thin-bodied and a little bit chewy. Blandly sweet and a little bit herbal and chewy. There is a touch of rancid character that I can’t say I’m a fan of. Meh

2011-11-12. Dark amber-red brown body is nearly headless. 3+ Pretty mild flavour, sweet malt and a bit of caramel, overly sweet. Similar aroma, sweet sugary caramel malt. 5+ Smooth average plus bodied palate. 3+ Inoffensive it is clearly aimed at a broader market, but kind of bland, and a bit too sweet overall. On tap at Jolly Pumpkin Cafe, Ann Arbor

Pours slightly hazy reddish brown, with no head. Aroma has notes of lots of crystal malt, with a touch of caramel, toffee, some earth and grass. Taste is thin, but has notes of caramel, biscuit, dark fruit, finishing harshly carbed and slightly bitter.

12oz bottle, purchased for $1.66 from Dutch’s. Clear, amber color. What little head there is, it is very bubbly and active. Lots of bubbles on the side of the glass. The malt, despite it’s too-light body, is actually pretty decent though. It’s toasted and savory, delivering a nice umami taste.
