Beware of beer. There, we warned you. The frothy head, and pungent, piney dryhopped scent (from Cascade and Amarillo hops) should alert you to the brew’s imminent attack on your senses. Next, Cascade, Perle and Willamette hops will batter your palette with bitter ferocity. Finally, Pale, Crystal (30 and 75) and wheat malts converge in a cloudy, thick body and give you a smooth kiss of sweet death – and leave you howling for more!

Bottle. Poured hazy dark golden color with a large frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop and wheat aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Very good brew.

Stubby bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of wheat, earthiness and citrus. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, earthiness, orange zest and grapefruit with a crisp moderatly bitter lingering earthy finish.

Sample at Fat Head’s. The beer pours a hazy golden-orange color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Citrusy hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of hops, citrus and wheaty malt. The finish is fruity with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent IPA overall.

Bottle. Poured all head. Settled to a deeper golden color. Aromas of citrus, wheaty, musty, and spicy. Thinner tastes of the same. Tom hit it on the head when he said if he had this blind, he would have guessed a Saison.

I thought this one was a failure. Super spicy, bitter but not extremely so, very herbal. It is a bit harsh.

A decent IPA with significant wheat added. An orangey piney IPA taste. Nice orange appearance and creamy foamy head. The wheat adds to the creamy mouthfeel. Hop aromas. Good drinkability, likely the wheat balances potential astringency from the hops.

Bottle in Detroit. Cloudy, brownish orange appearance with a light brown head. Grapefruit citrusy, somewhat yeasty, wheat malty aroma. Tangy, flighty piney, grapefruity hoppy, yeasty, tangy citrusy flavor.

Sampled from a Growler at the 2010 March Metro Detroit Tasting. Poured a cloudy gold with a medium gray head that quickly dissipated. Aroma had pine notes with a bit of sweet fruit underlying and as well as a bit of funk. Flavor was similar with mainly pine and the fruit coming out towards the finish.

12oz bottle. Mildly hazy orange-brown color, light tan foamy head. Cool lacing. Props to North Peak for offering a variety of IPAs (Diabolical, Wanderer) but this one is the one to get. Definitely the most satisfying. This one has the nice hops aroma with a satisfying bitterness that I look for in an IPA. Great balance, too. The rich wheat taste is definitely detectable, subdues the hops nicely.
