ratman197 (2360), Arvada, Colorado, USA Apr 8, 2008 On tap @ North Star poured a clear gold with a lasting white head. Aromas of orange, light carmel, light grapefruit and a light hint of pine. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, orange, light grapefruit and a hint of pine with a smooth lingering lightly bitter finish. Ernest (4250), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 16, 2007 Draught, North Star (GABF 2007 week).
Head is mostly lasting.
Body is light amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a strong note of diacetyl.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
This and the Oktoberfest were both butter bombs when I visited, and very difficult to enjoy as a result. BillKismet (1443), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 30, 2007 Served in a mason jar--nice touch. Honey-bronze color with ample frothy, frosty head. Light hop aroma. Decent, smooth hoppy flavor with mild bitterness and slight metallic finish. Aubrey (2614), Denver, Colorado, USA Jan 28, 2007 Loved the color -- light rusty orange. Unfortunately, the head was kind of weak (nice lace patterns, though). Light body (slightly watery) with a moderate carbonation. Flowery-herbal hop aromas were nice. Bitterness was mild. Malt flavors were kind of underwhelming, but it did have a nice pinch of tasty sweetness (like rock candy). Overall, the beer had some nice things going on, but it was missing some charisma. That said, it was painfully drinkable (i.e., great session beer ... and no off-flavors to complain about).
