Commercial Description:
A slightly rich, not too hoppy version of a classic English style porter. Although very dark in color it is medium bodied with hints of chocolate malt.

Clear red-brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet chocolate and slight nutty. Taste is medium sweet, nutty, some chocolate. Finishes watery, light floral/earthy. Light-medium body.

Faint traces of head don’t last over the coke colored pour. Smoky roastiness contains a tartish backbone in the form of peaches and green grapes. Vinous apple-like tart character fights it off with the potently roasted malts. Very light bodied, fair carbonation.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark walnut, not quite opaque...sweet chocolate nose with a hint of maple...body lightly roasty, too vinous and grapy, quite bland and thin at the end. Disappointing.

tap at the brewery. Dark brew with a thich light brown head. Light toasty aroma, cherry fruitiness. A little lacking on dark malt flavours. Some toast and light coffee. Low bitterness but a touch of piny/resiny hop flavour. Some nuttiness as it warms. Pretty bland in general though.

On-tap at the brewpub. Black, with lace. Some bitterness, above average carbonation, creamy mouthfeel.
