3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ernesto987 (2365) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 20, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2011 this is one of the best ESBs. Those charming english malts shine with a great sweet maltiness. A light lingering hop bitterness in the finish. Awesome brew, love this one.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours copper with a tan head. Smells of caramel, lightly rosey, earthy. Tastes earthy and caramelly with some peppery hints on the finish.

Dark Amber in coloration, with a thin almost nonexistant head. Prominant notes of malt and hops. The hoppiness isn’t overpowering and at times it seems like there could be a little more flavor. However this is a good session beer.

Tap at the brewpub. Deep amber colour with a thin tight white head. Nice caramel malt aroma, rich toastiness and an earthy malt character with light citrus notes on top. Lightly grassy with a fairly fresh dry hop character. Flavour is good, earthy and quite lean. Decent body and an earthy hop and minerally finish. Slightly nutty.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rastacouere (6041) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 26, 2005
Deep yellow gold, tiny white head with faint lacing, very clear. Soapy orangey and earthy adequate hops give a fair dry feeling. Support malt lacking, enhancing the Americanized grapefruity hop feel, herbal and with honest bitterness, but finishing a bit short. Astringence lasting, citric and thankfully not acid. Active carbonation. Heavily filtered and thinned out, but it remains one of my favourites at Northampton.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 CamdenD (979) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUN 25, 2004
Nice, but light, bitter. Is it really an ESB? Sure. Not bad from a small brewery.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 24, 2004
Has nice amber color and a sweet malt smell. Taste is also pretty malty with some spice(?) flavor and finishes with a mild bitterness. Overall I thought this was the holiday special, but still a pretty good beer. One of the better from this brewery.

Deep amber brown body with a thin head and good lace. SLightly sweet and buttery hop aroma with a slight fruitiness. Sweet fruity hop flavor with a buttery undertone and a hoppy finish. Dry and medium to full bodied.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 boto (1661) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - FEB 2, 2003
Dark copper in color. Hops evident in the nose but not overpowering. They were about the same in the taste.: very evident, but a tad less prevalent than what I would like in an ESB. Fairly heavy on the malts, but not really sweet at all. Overall, quite good!
