COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fulfilling the desire to have an Australian Lager that doesn’t resemble having sex in a canoe, we present Cool Hops. A refreshing yet vibrant new world lager, were all the malt and hops are sourced from Victoria and Tasmania. After the beer has fermented at a cool temperature, Galaxy and Ella hops are further added during cold conditioning. Cool Hops is a collaboration brew between Adam Betts of Northdown Craft Beer, Australia and Christian Skovdal Andersen of Beer Here, Denmark.

light amber color. Minerally tropical fruit nose. Light bodied. A touch sweet light bitter finish. Very pleasant and refreshing. It really takes pale lager to the next level.

330ml bottle from Slow Beer. A very strong golden amber colour for a pale lager and also has a big frothy head. If only all pale lagers looked this good instead of the thin clear looking beer you normally get. Passionfruit aroma fills the nose and the beer is full and smooth in the mouth with an easy drinking flavour. Perfect beer for this scorching hot day.

Cap needed little effort to come loose and then jettison across the room. Pours fiercely; the chaos of carbonation raises the foam a good inch out the glass like a plume. The bitter, pineforest froth needed to be spooned off. The body of beer that perfect shade of sparkling orange amber that just screams ’Drink me!’ So fresh, so clean is the Summery waft from the glass. A virtual tropical fruit punch including grapefruit, lychee, honeydew and sweet cantaloupe with well defined herbal bitterness underneath. Much drier than anticipated on the palate with a pleasant, summery malt base and hint of oat cookies and soft honey. Bitter, crisp finish with plenty rolling around in the swallow. Very piney and camphorous in between with a herbal, lavender and elderflower note and bitter, tight fruit like grapefruit and orange zest. Body is light with moderate carbonation but not too much as to dull the wonderful mix of malt and hop. Again, like the aroma, this one is clean as a whistle (something I dread when I see the word Lager on a label) Really was not expecting a cracker of a beer, but here it is. Two thumbs up. A delicious Lager!! (33cL, Bottled 12/11/12, Mane Liquor, Belmont)

Bottle. Clear amber with a white head that fades to half an inch. Aroma of grapefruit, passionfruit, biscuit, caramel, some red berries. Light bodied. Tastes as it smells with modest bitterness. For me the malt flavours don’t go all that well with the hop flavours and the cleanness of it makes them jar. Smells good though.

On tap at Cookie. Great, very original pale lager. Aroma of fresh mint, grass, and some dry fruit. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark yellow, with a frothy head.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours vibrant orange with a two finger fluffy white head. Nose has a fair bit of summer driven fruits in it with biscuity malt behind it all. A touch of grain and grass too. Nice and balanced. Taste is backed by biscuit malts. Shows fruit driven hops with a fair bit of hop bitterness to finish off. Slightly floral. Very balanced. Carbonation is a little high for m liking though but works well for a lager. Good, solid stuff

Pours golden amber with a large head. Some soft fruity hops in the aroma along with spicy notes and some biscuity malt. Subtle. Flavours are pretty gentle and standard; biscuity malt, soft spicy hops and a gentle bitterness in the dry finish. Nice light body, carbonation could be higher though.

From a 330ml bottle on 18/12/2012. Pours a quite clear dark golden with a small head. Has a pleasant light tropical and citrus fruit aroma. The flavour is more sweet tropical fruit, a dash of tart citrus, some biscuity malt, a touch of honey, and a reasonably firm hop bitterness. Rather good for something carrying the lager label. Tastes more like a good, solid APA.

Delightful delicate beer. Given the label I expected a hoppy beast. Instead we have a nice amber beer with lingering white head that has a pleasent spicy aroma. The flavour is a mix of herbal/vegetable and grapefruit flavours, there is a bit of maltiness on the back palate and the finish is restrained. Memorable for being less rather than more.
