3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22. Pours black with a dense whitish head. Plenty of sheets and strings of lace. Nice big campfire, worcestershire, and a little bit of Likwid Smok on the nose. Doesn’t smell synthetic, exactly, so much as it just smells intensely concentrated. That’s a good thing overall, but it’s worth pointing out that this one slips out of the pure campfire side of the room and over to the concentrated side of the smokiness spectrum. Nice for me. Creamy medium body with lively carb and a little bit of a burrowing effect on the tongue. Rough ashy mid-palate, a bit chocolatey, plenty of campfire there. Then there’s that sharp jerky and liquid smoke effect at the end. Fairly mild and balanced finish with some sweetness showing. As a creative inspiration, it’s not a huge leap forward for the smoked porter world. We’ve had this beer before, more or less. But it’s a good one, and fun to drink.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Seemingly black, moderate yet hefty beige head, frothy, leaving fairly nice lacing.   Soft smoke, roasted malts, and carob on the nose.   Unlike others, this doesn’t have any of that bandaid or plastic
presense.   Then again, the smoke isn’t very strong.   Much more smokey on the tongue.   A slight band-aid up front, but it quickly gives way to an ashy type charred wood.   Roastiness is sweet, a little milk stout like.
Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Could stand to be a bit heavier because at the finish it feels a little thin.   Mid-palate is a lot of smoke and ash, backside becomes a bit sweet with some soft roastiness.   I like
this one in that its not overly plastic or band-aid like.   Smoke seems like smoke, or at least ash and charred wood.   Enjoyable.

Dark black in color, clear with a thin brown head. Lots of chocolate and smoked roasty malt in the aroma. Loved the deep rich flavors this was like drinking a smokey chocolate bar with alcohol. Big flavors this was dry to the finish and smokey. I like this beer.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle into English pint. Pours opaque black with a small collapsing beige head; leaves a ring of foam that lasts throughout. Aroma is muted coffee, campfire smoke. Taste is bittersweet and smoky; finishes bitter with a light tang. Highly carbonated for a porter, creamy mouthfeel, medium-bodied. Nice enough, but not excellent.
