Commercial Description:
By combining elements of English, German and American brewing techniques and ingredients, we have created a hybrid beer of undeniably satisfying character. This burgundy colored ale has a big herbal hop nose, assertive bitterness and complex malt flavors, creating a multi-dimensional taste. It's cold-filtered and lager conditioned.

Big butterscotch nose. Not much else except maybe some light floral hops. Perhaps a little vanilla. Pours a dark amber with a thin head. Diacetyl, toffee, caramel malt, and some floral hops round out this one. A sweet lingering butterscotch flavor. Bad bottle eh?

Sample tray. Dark reddish amber. Nice hop flavour with apricot and melon. Notes of wood and toffee. I could drink a few of these.

On tap at the brewery, Not much nose or head, but a nice bitter none the less. Excellent clarity and copper color. Nice malty backbone, It cold have used perhaps a little more caramel malt for sweetness. Very pleasant brew with lunch

On draught at the brewery. Aroma is a sweetness and bittering hop balance forward with notes of citrus and caramel. Appearance is a clear copper with a well retained off white head. Flavor has earthy hop notes forward, some resiny flavor and low sweetness. Mouthfeel is low/medium bodied with low/medium carb texture. Overall, a fairly well balanced beer that just needs a bit more sweetness.

Fifth stop during the ABA Beer Tour ’07 in Spokane, Washington. Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark brownish amber with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film. Nice white swirl fillm on brew surface. Aroma of caramel malt, light maple syrup, some grassy hops and a touch of yeast. Taste is medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of multi-grain biscuits, and some citrus hops. Finish is dry and a little metalic, with a lingering light bitterness.

Draft pint at the brewpub; Red, little to no carbonation and virtually no head. Not much of an aroma, but this has a nice prototypical bitter flavor profile ... caramel malt, tangy bitterness, nice metallic hop bite. (#2917, 5/18/2007)
