COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This spring seasonal is back again by popular demand. This will again be a single hop beer as in years past. This year, once again, we have chosen the Amarillo hop - one of the world’s rarest hops - grown only by Gamash Farms in the Yakima Valley. This hop was accidentally discovered growing in a Cascade hop field and was later found to be a naturally occurring variation of the Cascade hop. It is coveted for its orange, tangerine flavor and aroma profiles. This golden to copper colored ale beautifully showcases the complexities of the Amarillo hop on a malt pallet of subtle nutty sweetness.

Cask, Caskfest. Clear gold pour with a large fluffy white head. Has an elegant floral and citrus Amarillo hop aroma. Has a light toasty malt body with lots of citrus, floral, and herbal hop notes. Ends with pine hop bitterness. Has a moderately light body, gentle carbonation, maybe a touch thin. A pretty nice pale that makes good use of one of my favorite hops.

5/24/08 On draught at the Brewpub. Aroma is light, sweet and floral, with excellent hop/malt note integration. Appearance is very clear gold with a medium-high maintained white head. Flavor is an even malt/hop balance with light malt sweetness and a light, but much more (vs. the aroma) earthy, grassy and spicy hop note. Mouthfeel is quite dry, medium bodied, with a spicy aftertaste that does not finish. Overall, quite good. It’s nice to see to see a Pale Ale that isn’t trying to be "IPA light", and content with a solid hot weather craft beer status.

On tap at Naked City. Nose of citrus hops, lime, orange, and some floral notes. Light sweet bready malt as well. Pours bright golden with a thin bubbly head. Flavors of juicy citrus hops, not bitter, but fruity and pleasant. Malt body is light and bready with a touch of sweetness. Super crisp finish. This would make a great session ale and a fantastic summer beer. I really enjoyed this and it was very unexpected.

Sample at brewery. Clear orange, frothy white head. Aroma floral, citrus, caramel. Taste has more bitter pine but still lots of sweet tropical citrus and caramel. Medium body, smooth carbonation. Probably my favorite of the taster.

Draft at NCBC. Pours a hazy medium-dark amber with a loose and sudsy grayish head. Mild fresh piney nose, smells really pleasant dimensional--nicely done. Creamy medium body with wooly carb. Toast, caramel, and pine on the mid palate. Not a groundbreaking APA, but clean and well done and very pleasantly drinkable.

Taster – 2009 Washington Cask Beer Festival- Seattle, WA
Aroma: Nice IPA hops aroma with a good malt backing.
Appearance: Amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Big Amarillo hops flavors this was a killer IPA. Loved the flavors with the malt mix.
Palate: Dry IPA finish, with a good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very nice IPA with huge hops this is a hard hops to tame.

Blonde with a thin, albeit resilient, head. So crisp, it’s crunchy, aroma of grapefruit, prickly pine, and citrus. Unrestrained grapefruit dominates the flavor with a fine Chinook bitterness that sates the palate without going overboard. This is a boldly flavored beer, that as far as I’m concerned, is an IPA all the way and not an APA as it is currently categorized.

Draught @ Collins Pub, Seattle.
Pours clear golden color with small head. Aroma of mild vegetables, fruits, toffee and goose berry bush. Flavour of goose berries, fruits, mild caramel, toffee and some peach. Quite weird mesh of slavors but not bad though.
