22 oz. bomber from 99 Bottles in Federal Way. Pours translucent red/amber with a generous head. Good lacing throughout. Malty, hoppy, piney/sprucey in the tradition of Rogue’s Santa’s Private Reserve and Sierra Nevada’s Celebration. This is very smooth, and a really impressive brew. Let’s see if it ages well.

A: Pours a cloudy brown with amber edges, with a minor 1/2-finger tall bubbly white head. Some minor lacing appears, but doesn’t stick around too long.
S: Aromas are predominantly roasted malts with some minor spicing to complement it, I do wish a more pronounced hop boutique would make itself known.
T/M: Why? Because this beer is seriously hoppy! Right off the bat, the hops bite your tongue, it’s a bruiser! And it’s well-crafted too, as a sweetly roasted body balances things out, before the hop bitterness batters the palate again. Some notes of orange & nutmeg spicing are present too, but nowhere near overpowering. Great silky mouthfeel spreads these great flavors throughout as well.
D: This beer was superb, provided your tongue can handle the bruising hops, I highly recommend it.

Dec 4, 2007 On tap at Winter Beer Festival. Pours and reddish-brown color with a small head on top. Aroma is a nice mixture of sweet caramel malts and citrusy hops. This beer was a nice twist on a traditional IPA with fruity flavors hitting the tongue. Not overbearing and well-pronounced just a nice hint of a touch. A tasty winter ale!

Jul 22, 2007 On draught at the brewery. Aroma is some extremely sweet caramel forward followed by light hop citrus and grassy notes. Appearance is a medium amber, with a good off-white head. Flavor is sweet caramel forward with light hop citrus, some earthiness and an odd, but very smooth resiny finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, resiny, with starch in the afteraste. Overall, complex, very interesting, with some great aged notes.

Jan 20, 2007 Very dark and rich IPA - very hopped somewhat spicy. Malty without being sweet and bittered very well. A little fruity, but in a good way.
