330ml bottle. Orange in colour with an off white frothy head of thick foam that hangs around. Sweet fruit and hop aroma and very pleasant on the nose. Mild bitterness with a citrus background that is smooth and easy to drink with a nice mouth feel

My first beer rated! Had this one on tap in Byron Bay while on holiday and loved it. Lovely herbaceous character to it combined with nice maltiness. Bottled was not as good as tapped product, but still quite nice. Nice colour and soft white head. A bit thin in body though. Found it to be a little more metallic and not quite as malty as on tap. Still had decent hoppy/citrus aroma. Visited the brewery and spoke to brewer who did say they had a problem with overcarbonation in bottles earlier. Hence other comments about it. Mine was fine. Not a bad drop.

As with many small breweries, consistency is something these guys will need to master. The brewer has apparently fixed up the priming issue that led to the gushers, but there still seems to be some difference bottle to bottle. I’ve had a couple of these that have been decent, but also a couple that have been below average. This one was in between, with an initial aroma of ginger and floral hops, followed up with a more sweet smooth over-ripe mango aroma that I just couldn’t get past. Flavour is mostly inert with a touch of bitterness. Carbonation a little on the light side. As highlandlad says, it finishes quite chewy. Anyway, I pretty much enjoyed it, and won’t be shying away from the couple I have left. It will be interesting to see how this beer develops as the brewing gains experience though.

Sampled at the Australian Beer festival (Draught). Arrived golden orange with an averaged sized frothy, white, head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of piney/fruity hops with sweet biscuity malts, apricots, nectarines and some caramel. Flavor was of tangy orange citrus with a mild hop bitterness, dry biscuity malts, caramel, passionfruit and a dry somewhat grassy finish. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation, a dry mouthfeel and a ok finish.

Bottle. Pours golden with a lively white head. Light floral notes with a touch of honey and grass. The flavour is sweet malt, citrus and sugar cane. Medium bodied and what I thought may actually be over carbonated in the bottle. There was some sourness in the finish.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Shared bottle at a home brew tasting session. Bottle had been opened too long to say much about the carbonation issue. Still -reasonably fruity aroma, funny grainy sweet malt flavour with a pleasing bitter finish. Will have to try this again, away from 100+ IBU homebrews.

Bottle, with no ’dusky’ in the title and 4.6 abv, but still made from dolphins apparently. Big forthy head, smells pine and cascade. Dissapointingly thin palate, overly sweet and underly hoppy. what a shame

Flattish, orange colour with a very big globule at the bottom. Citrus and nuts plus sugar. What is the dolphin about?

14 Apr 2006 - Light fruity hop malt aroma. Cloudy brown colour, overprimed head and good lacing. Fruity hop malt and husky grain flavour. Tangy grainy aftertaste. A bit of a mess of flavours and finish.
