Bottle (500ml). Poured muddy burnt brown (boarder lining black) with a good sized dene, foamy, lightly tanned head which lasted amazingly. An intriguing aged and complex aroma with notes of port, muscatels, chocolate, blueberries, dried figs, grapes and light notes of toast. Flavor was smooth with a very light bitterness, strong notes of port, raisin bread, pears, dark chocolate and some great woody/oak notes in the finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation, a somewhat thick texture (but not overly so) and a great length finish. The true standout from the Northern Rivers Brewery, flavors harmonise perfectly – a very original and well crafted brew.
