Commercial Description:
RUBY RASPBERRY WHEAT - 4.0% is a beer with a twist. The addition of real fruit gives it a raspberry taste and aroma with low bitterness. It is refreshing to drink, especially on hot days. A real zinger! Colour: a redish tinge. Aroma: hint of raspberry. Taste: the essence of beer with a nice raspberry finish

Not mad on raspberries and certainly not good as an adjunct in a beer. Syrupy smell but with a decent head. Looks ok and first mouthful is not as bad as might expect. Still cloys away at the end. Mild wheat beer taste can be detected which makes this just drinkable.

Bottle. Sample courtesy of NR. Pours amber with an OK white head. Sweet aroma of grain and sugar coated raspberries. The flavour is sweet malt, raspberries and sugar. The sweetness dictates the mouthfeel and I can’t say I’m enjoying this much at all. It’s astringent and not really pleasant. I’d give this one a miss.

330ml bottle. Red tinged amber in colour with a light fluffy head of white foam that settles. Clear and well carbonated with a wonderful aroma of fresh raspberries with an underlyimg hint of honey sweetness. Light and zingy in the mouth with a powerful raspberry flavour balanced with hops and malt. Fluffy in the mouth.

Bottle (330ml). Poured dull gold with a slight haze and a loose rocky white head which was short lived. Aroma was light with notes of sweet strawberry jam, hints raspberry sherbet and a faint suggestion of yeast & grain. Flavor was quite odd and seemed more like a gluten free beer rather than a fruit beer; hints of raspberry yogurt with light notes of lychee and a tart, astringent grainy finish. Light bodied with extremely fizzy carbonation, a watery texture and a short, clean finish. I was quite disappointed with this brew from Northern Rivers after enjoying their stout and dark ale so much.

3.4% Stubby. Head didn’t hang around at all on this orangey/amber body with a red tinge. Some raspberry in the aroma and taste although not to pronounced. Taste is fairly short, not too refreshing and doesn’t do a lot for me at all.
