Northshire Chocolate Stout is a British style chocolate stout, brewed with chocolate malt, imported English malt and hops, with a secret chocolate addition. Robust and full flavored with a balanced bitterness, chocolate character and a delicious finish.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a decent light brown creamy fully-lasting head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, roasty malt, slightly burnt malt and coffee. Medium bitter and lightly sweet tastes, thin body, appropriate carbo, flavors of chocolate and strong coffee and a long lingering medium bitter finish. ABV on bottle says 6.0%. Unexpectedly good.

Good to see that this is labeled correctly on ratebeer. This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a slim white to off white color-ed level head. The smell had a sweet cocoa with a decent robust roasty coffee in the background. The taste copied the smell nicely and leads on into a delicate sweet to roasty aftertaste. On the palate, this one sat medium bodied with a nice creamy smoothness along my tongue. Bitterness - what bitterness, there is none and you know what, honestly, there doesn’t need to be. Overall, this is a nice sweet stout just as it is. This is what I think I really needed tonight. Just something smooth and sweet, subtle and roasty, robust to an extent but creamy for a mid ’40’s Halloween night.

22oz bottle picked up while travelling through VT. Pours dark brown, almost black with a tan head that left tons of lacing. They describe this as a British style stout and I would say that is spot on. Does remind me of something I might find in a pub over there. Heavier on the malt notes than the hops. Sessionable. OK not great.

Undated bottle.
Glass: Fiddlehead teku.
Appearance: Deep chestnut body with a creamy tan head on top, light in color.
Aroma: Mild chocolate, semi-syrup like, with light coffee and a hint of caramel.
Taste: Mild decent drinking stout with hints of powdery and syrupy chocolate accompanied by a light roast and toasty malts. Easy to drink, not far off from Youngs Double Chocolate stout.
Palate: Light side of medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: Decent chocolate stout, easy drinking and approachable. There’s a seltzer taste to it, so maybe tone the carbonation down a tad.

From 22oz bottle, poured into 16oz tulip glass

Aroma: sweet, caramel, toffee, floral hops, licorice

Appearance: Black with red tint, tan head

Taste: Medium sweet, light bitter

Palate: full body, thick texture, average carbonation

Overall: No chocolate aroma, but definitely in taste. Easy drinking stout. Maybe a little lactose? Very clean finish. Chocolate tastes like dark chocolate. Hops are present, but doesn’t overpower chocolate aspects. Overall, a nice chocolate stout.

Bottle from ...not sure. Almost black with tan ring and a little lace. Roasted coffee chocolate and wet earth and old wood. Dark chocolate roasted coffee and some mild red grape with woody bitter fairly dry finish. Surprisingly thin body but not watery. Sessionable. Pretty good.

Who doesn’t like a 4.99 bomber of a decent style? After a much more powerful beer this felt subdued. Nose is cola. Palate is chocolate coffee and toasted malt. Not as sweet and oily as I would expect but very drinkable.
