COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Beer. In our heads we thought: red (color), fruity (flavor), mildly earthy (flavor), spicy (flavor), crisp (character), and clean (character). We threw some ingredients together and we arrived at Redoubt red. Redoubt is a smooth beer that pours a nice copper like color. The first taste gives a distinct fruity character that I finally identified as cherries. It has aspects of the wine like sour character that cherry juice has. This fruitiness has a gentle sweetness and gives way to a peppery spiciness at the end, which then vanishes. A few others have tried it, and donít taste what I do, so donít let the power of suggestion influence you Ė try it yourself! Regardless, we feel that we hit on a great red colored beer with definite fruity (not citrus) and spicy characters.

On tap at Northwest Peaks, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malts and dry caramel. Flavour is fairly dry and crisp, with metallic notes and dry bready notes. Pretty unpalatable for the style. Not the best.

Draft at Brewpub. Cleaner copper red than Double Redoubt. Tall gray foam. Clean aroma, tart dry red body. Classic, solid bitter copper metallic. Very assertive beer.

Amber pour. Hoppy aroma. Flavor is just a bit dilute. Not enough malt to counter even the mild hops, which makes it a little minerally. Not much a fan of this one.

Draft at Fiddlerís Inn -- thanks to my sister-in-law for coming to town and picking up our son so my wife and I could sneak in for a quick drink on the way home. Anyway, 4 oz sample. Pours hazy amber red, with creamy offwhite head. Aroma: Pine, caramel, jolly rancher (the red one), and a little bit dank? Taste: Sweet, caramel and bread with pronounced bitterness in the finish. Creamy, smooth texture. Overall: This is my first beer from this brewery. This one didnít really work that well for my tastes. The assertive, lasting bitter finish in this mixes the worst of both worlds -- too harsh for a mild, easy drinking amber, but too sweet and fruity to work as an IPA.

Dark brown nice head. Nose is tame. Not a lot going on. Oaky malty and sort of medicinal. Thereís a bit of cedar and honey with tangerines.

Tap, brewery. Pours a clear dark red with a small foamy white head, lots of lacing. The nose is lightly hoppy with some dry toasty malt, a little husky and grainy. The flavor is dry toasty malt with a little light spicy hops and a fairly crisp finish. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation, some lingering light bitterness. Pretty nice Amber without much sweetness and enough hops to keep it interesting.

Draft at the source. Clear dark amber color, tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of toasted and nutty caramel. Taste is similar.

Iíve had this. Nose of toast slightly sweet caramel, lightly fruity. Pours copper amber thin white head. Flavors of toast caramel residual sweetness. Light hop bitterness. Standard red. What.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2014 Red-amber, decent silken caramel-tinged head. Lovely grainy nose, nice amber malt flavor with a smooth fresh cereal graininess. Re-rated 3-22-13: Again, it is the consistent amber-red color and with a decent head. Nose is a bit more skunky this time, which carries over to the flavor as well. High levels of co-humulone, contribute to a hop heaviness throughout.

On draft at the brewery. Amber color. Malty to style with light hops. Smooth and drinkable. Just not over the top.
