UPDATED: DEC 10, 2003 Draft, at Northwoods. Yep, a solid “brown ale” color. Roasty and caramelly in taste, with a good complement of hops. Good, but not quite great.

Bottle. Pours a beautiful clear ruby black witha shall creamy tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is light roasty, a bit of caramel. Flavor is rich roasty, touches of coffee and smoke. Light sweet, little bitterness, light astringence. Medium body.

Had it on tap at Northwoods BrewPub in Eau Claire Wisconsin. What can I say, the score says it all. I will say it is hazy brown in color low hop aroma and slightly sweet.

Poured a very dark, reddish brown with a minimal beige head and like lacing. Aroma was of weak sweet malts. Taste was of roasted/burnt malts with a slight hop finish. Palate was OK. Overall, not a bad brown but I have had better.

Bottle from Skyview, thanks! Clear chestnut with a thin tan head. Aroma is faint yet malty with nuts and light breadiness. Taste is meh with nuts, malt, toffee and malt. Thin bodied and par for their course.

Shared 12 oz. bottle at a monthly geek tasting. Poured to a sampler with a ruby highlighted, dark brown color, modest off white/light tan head foam, and light, streaks & spots of lacing. The nose was a very light, uneventful aroma expression of the flavor, which was light nuttiness, and cloying sweetness of caramel, molasses, and toffee. Toasty malt, hop bitterness, and carbonation were soft, the body was fairly light, and the texture was watery. Nice potential in the variety of notes, but basically came off as an average, homebrew entry.

Sampled on draught: Poured a sort of muddy orange colour. Light in the mouthfeel, little carbonation. Some soft cinnamon notes with a sweet malty finish. Thin all the way through with a lopsided watered down finish. This won a medal?

Tap at the brewpub. Brown pour of course. Toasty and a bit nutty. Very smooth with a slight bitterness in the finish, not bad.

12oz bottle. Filtered amber-brown color. Sweet sorghum-like aroma. Rather thin on the palate, but still has a pleasant nutty brown taste. Definitely a little watery and potentially adjunct-ridden.
