COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Brits coined the term "session," but beer-brewing countries have been crafting their own versions of these flavorful, low-gravity beers for centuries. Brewed in the traditional, Belgian Saison style, our interpretation is refreshing and dry with a spicy yeast character and floral hop aroma.

bottle. pours deep golden with white head. aroma is sour, some brett and vinegar, some florals. flavor is tart, some bile notes, mineral and floral. doesn’t come off as intentionally soured but either way it’s not so good.

12oz bottle. Pours golden with a white head. Somewhat thin and bland but still an OK example of the style especially given the low ABV.

On draught at Lucca in Boston, MA. Arrived at the table a hazy gold with a very thin white head that left very little lace. The aroma is mild malt and citrus with a hint of funk and same stale hay. The flavor is similar to the aroma with that same stale hay component that I’m not sure really belongs. This beer seems a bit tired. Light-medium bodied. Bitter but lacking flavor at the finish. Not a fan.

Bottle in the USA. Pours cloudy gold with a large, white cream head. Nose of dough, faint lemon. Light to medium sweet flavor with plenty of sugary dough, a bit of toasted sugars, faint tangy lemon, touches of straw bitterness. Yeah, quite a bit of dough. Light bodied with average carbonation. Very faint citrusy tang to finish, with more sweet and doughy malts, some white bread. It’s an OK saison. It dries out slightly in the finish, which alleviates some of the sweetness. Very subtle, dry tosaty grass bitterness as well. Drinks a touch stronger than the ABV, FWIW. Nothing too wrong here.

Certainly better than previous Notch encounters, but not by much. Tastes and smells of spicy yeast, minerals, and candle wax, caramel and light earth. Dry.

I love this beer. It’s smell is nice in bready malts and clovey yestiness. It’s a go-to beer for me when I just want to relax and drink something nice and easy.

12oz bottle. Looks light. Aroma of caramel malts, wheat like notes, some spiciness and apple, plus floral hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. A pretty interesting session beer.

Thanks, Michael. Very, very heavy on the phenols along with a slight medicinal taste. Light body with an odd, unpleasant aftertaste.

22 oz. bottle from lushawn- thanks, Shawn! Pours a hazed golden color with a big fizzy eggshell head that leaves spots of lace. Aroma of straw, grass, bright farmhouse funk, citrus, and pale malts. Flavor of straw, sweet malts, citrus, crackers, sharp herbs, dry grains, and faint funk. Light-bodied, with a dry, rustic, funky mouthfeel and high carbonation. Excellent saison for something in session territory.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2012 Bottle from Julios. Perhaps the best Notch product I’ve had so far. A light cloudy yellow brew with good carbonation. Cirtus-yeast aromas and flavor. Well balanced, very easy drinking but with enough going on to keep in interesting. Well done.
