COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
The mirror image of Rock Bitter, smooth and dark with a biscuity flavour. Back in the pre-war days this beer would have been on sale in virtually every one of the brewery's jug and bottle counters throughout the county and beyond.

Cask, Leicester Beer Fest 05. Aromas are earthy roast malts with floral hops and some metallic elements. Flavours are soft roast malts with light chocolate. Quite sweet with floral hops. Some fruitiness, too. Quite hoppy for a mild.

Cask@Leicester Beer Festival. Plain looking mild with a light musty, malty aroma and a good strongly bitter flavour. Overall a good mild.

Cask@Chelmsford BF. A simple but enjoyable mild. Lightly roasted/toasted, some oats, with a light acidity, decent.

Beer #19 at Chelmsford Beer Festival, with Duff. Very dark, opaque colour. Bready malt aroma. Clean, fruity palate. As others have remarked, there are more hops than usual in a mild. Soft finish. A good solid mild. Doesn’t set the world on fire, but comes across very nicely. Cask (gravity dispense).

[Cask conditioned] Beutiful very dark coloured. Very fruity for a mild ale. Creamy and soft mouthfeel.

Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London.
Black as the devils eyes, with just the slightest purple hue, no head. Hoppy aroma and flavour, rather more like an IPA or Pale Ale. Currious beer but very enjoyable.

Gravity, Maidstone Beer Festival. Nottingham is a brewpub founded in 2001 and already gaining something of a reputation. If this mild is anything to go by, then the reputation is well deserved. Pine, eucalyptus, mint sauce and soy sauce are among the notes found in the aroma - this is very much one to keep sniffing. Mouthfeel is creamy and coats the mouth but remains light and refreshing. Flavours are very outstanding for a mild but also rather muddled, but it's definitely dark tasting and finishes pleasantly with pine notes.
