MiP (8793), Sřnderborg, Denmark Jul 6, 2009 Bottle, 4.3%. Subtle, sweet hop aroma. Clear bright orange colour. Semi-stable white head. The flavour has a good aromatic hop note. Medium bitterness, slightly rough. Late roasted note, quite nice. Slightly thin flavour, but good for ABV. judasbeer (230), Budapest, Hungary Jun 23, 2009 Bottle. Golden appearance with medium-sized fluffy head. Aroma of earth, sulfur, and grasses. Very full mouthfeel according to the ABV. Distinct grassy based hoppiness with some citrus and hay. Crisp grassy ending with slight barnyard notes.
It has some kind of harsh, but very unique rough yeastiness with a distinct hop level, just like the other brews from Nová Paka. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Jun 16, 2009 On tap at II. Cseh Sörfesztivál, Budapest.
Dark golden coloured, medium sized white head, yeasty barnyard nose. Moderate malty, bitter hoppy and grainy with notes yeast and barnyard. Touch of salt in the finish. Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Jun 13, 2009 Tap at the II. Cseh Sorfesztival in Budapest. Poured a full golden body with a medium sized white head. Odd light yeasty nose. The taste is as yeasty, slightly barnyardy with notes of lemon, as much as a pils can be without actually being infected or something, hard to explain. A bit rubbery. Odd but not that bad. pivnizub (4949), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Oct 17, 2007 Bottle: Deep golden, smaller, but quite stable loose white head, faint sweet-malty nose with traces of aromatic hops; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, malty base detectable, but all in all light bodied; moderate bitter-sweet finish with a hint of smoke (!) in the aftertaste. Not great, but a well crafted Bohemian Pilsener......... Quack-Duck (3129), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany Jul 6, 2007 bottle, 4,3% ABV. Golden yellow, medium-sized fluffy head with big bubbles. Malty nose. Light-bodied but full of flavour, slightly bitter-sweet, quite hoppy and malty, tastes like a typical Czech lager. oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland Sep 12, 2006 Bottled. Very lively beer, 1/4 of the bottle came out when when opened (has been unmoved in the cold for a few days). Deep golden colour, with a mediumsized beige head, that vanishes eventually. Cooked mushrooms, vegetables, malts and some buttery hints. Also diacetyl and some metallic hints in it. Flavour is buttery, diacetylic, caramellish malty and a bittery hoppy finish. Lots of diacetyl and salty hoppy hints in aftertaste. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Jul 3, 2006 (Bottled, 4.3% ABV) Clear golden color with a medium, fading head. Original aroma of mushrooms, some diacetyl and buttery hops with hints of metal and toffee. Buttery-smoky-ashy-malty flavor with licorice hints and toffee. Lingering, bitter, buttery-grassy-hoppy finish. Light to medium-bodied, dry and slightly foamy-carbonated palate. It seems, that looking for a clean flavors or aromas from Nova Paka’s brews is a waste of time. This one is quite interesting (and tolerable), though.
