Commercial Description:
Also known as Brou Czech Lager

6 km far from Nova Paka, there is a ruin of the Kumburk Castle, which was built in the early 14th century by the Markvartic family. The castle was reconstructed from time to time by various owners. In the Thirty Years War, it was devastated by the Swedes and in 1658 it was destroyed at the bidding of Emperor Leopold. The caste used to be the favourite destination of poet K. H. Macha. Kumburak is a pale lager with rich taste with velvety foam, alcohol 5%.

Bottle in World of Beer pack. Dark amber with a quick head. Aroma seems a bit off and of vegetables. Settles down into a lighter scent of hops and caramel. Bready flavour with harsh hops and vegetable. A big bread burst at the finish and a long hop finish. Interesting and a much smoother as the beer breathes and the palate adjust. Caramel with a strong rough hop character.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of KimJohansen. Pours a clear deep golden with a rough, off-white head. Lightly perfumy and malty nose. Medium body, a lightly caramellish note and then a very distinct baconish smokiness. Dry and bitter finish. Rather unusual for a Czech. 131108

Pours an orangey colour, with a nice sized head. Aroma is fairly musty, a sweetness is present, citrus notes, and some bready malt. Tastes fairly musty as well. Hints of grass, citrus, bitter hops, almost a flax seed taste, vegetal notes, and cereal. Not very good.
