Also known as Brou Czech Lager

6 km far from Nova Paka, there is a ruin of the Kumburk Castle, which was built in the early 14th century by the Markvartic family. The castle was reconstructed from time to time by various owners. In the Thirty Years War, it was devastated by the Swedes and in 1658 it was destroyed at the bidding of Emperor Leopold. The caste used to be the favourite destination of poet K. H. Macha. Kumburak is a pale lager with rich taste with velvety foam, alcohol 5%.

Keg at U Slovanske Lipy. Pours Golden with a white head. Feint nods at Pilsner. Pretty poor though. Nothing inherently wrong with it but I did taste it after the Kouts which ultimately meant it was doomed.

Really weird set up for rating this beer. Not bad lager at all. Has crisp aftertaste that bites your tongue just the right amount, and leaves average lasting taste in your mouth. Pours golden color and has average white head. Carbonation is not overwhelming and very pleasant.

Láhev 500 ml. Aroma je sladové, Pěna je jasně bílá, jemná, středně vysoká a pomalu mizící. Barva samotného piva je zlatá. Chuť má výrazný sladový střed, přecházející do středně hořkého, držícího finiše. V ústech pivo působí průměrně, má silný říz a je vcelku dobře pitelné. Jedná se o průměrný světlý ležák.

Diminishing white head. Clear golden body. Mild caramel malts and a tiny plum to the nose. Tastes hops, grassy grains, bready malts. Normal on palate. Finishes with the hops in front, through bread and malts, and hops again. Continental pilsener. [50cl brown btl 5.3%abv l3° BB28.08.14]

Erőteljes élesztős, kissé éles karakterű, közepes testességű, markáns komlós utóízű, összességében azonban némiképp visszafogottabb ízvilággal rendelkező, mégis kellemes ital.

(Bottle, plastic - 1 litre, courtesy of Marduk and FatPhil, 2013122) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had plastic, sweetness and harshness. Palate was medium bodied and a bit sticky with medium carbonation. Flavours were harshness, sweetness and molten plastic. Aftertaste was harsh. Quite a horrible brew but not so bad looking.

1L plastic bottle. Dark golden color. Tiny to almost no head. Malty, candy, acetone in aroma. Molten plastic, malty, caramel in taste. That liquid is almost as bad as political promises or Miss World victory speech. Drain pour. Never ever again!

1L bottle - thanks Marduk!
Odd pale lager aroma, lots of green apple, but without the associated acidity. Wooly, some wet dog. Pale gold, brief head. Messed up vegetal taste. Rotten vegetables, some rankness that reminds me of spring onion. More wool. Odd sweetness like aspartame. Dirty. Dry chemical acrid hops. Do not want it in my mouth. Must scape tongue. True horror.
