Draught. Mild earthy aroma. Dark brown colour, seems clear. Small light brown head. The flavour is roasted with enough sweetness to balance. A little earth like in the aroma and a good smoke note. High bitterness, slightly unpleasant, but a good beer. 7 3 7 3 15 sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2009 draft @ Pivovarsky Klub, Prague.
pours dark brown, off white head.
Aroma, apple, caramel, malty.
Taste, light roasted malts, could not help but notice a nice apple like palate, sweet sugary, with some dark fruits;cherry, prune for a light astringent finish. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Jun 16, 2009 On tap at II. Cseh Sörfesztivál, Budapest.
Pale brown coloured, small to medium pale beige head, dusty sugary nose. Mild roasted malty, hoppy herbal and sugary taste with weak caramel presence. A way too sweet dunkel. Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Jun 14, 2009 At the II Cseh Sörfesztivál, shared with ogivlado. Poured a murky dark red/brown body with a lasting offwhite head that went away slowly. A grainy sweet malty nose with a bit of dust. A sweet malty taste, somewhat rubbery and roasty, with a specific lemony note. Light hop bitterness, somewhat crude and some raisins. Ok but odd in a way. rsmeds (220), Turku, Finland May 25, 2009 Bottle.
Pours a clear, chestnut red-brown, with a generous but shortlived bubbly beige head.
Very "czech" aroma of lightly roasted malts, some random hops, and probably a bucketload of additives.
Flavor surprisingly agreeable compared to aroma. Dominated by lightly roasted caramel malts, bitter hops, and sugar. Not very clean though. Strange sweetish tangy palate.
Fairly light body, dry mouthfeel, lightish carbonation.
I do wonder if Im rating the correct beer here -- some seem to have had much more pleasant experiences of it. Meanwhile, Im seriously considering giving up on czech beer altogether... The flavour is raisin, sweet and roasted malts with notes of coffee. Medium bodied, aftertaste is a bit dry and bitter.
