3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
At the II Cseh Sörfesztivál, shared with ogivlado. Poured a murky dark red/brown body with a lasting offwhite head that went away slowly. A grainy sweet malty nose with a bit of dust. A sweet malty taste, somewhat rubbery and roasty, with a specific lemony note. Light hop bitterness, somewhat crude and some raisins. Ok but odd in a way.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a clear, chestnut red-brown, with a generous but shortlived bubbly beige head.
Very "czech" aroma of lightly roasted malts, some random hops, and probably a bucketload of additives.
Flavor surprisingly agreeable compared to aroma. Dominated by lightly roasted caramel malts, bitter hops, and sugar. Not very clean though. Strange sweetish tangy palate.
Fairly light body, dry mouthfeel, lightish carbonation.
I do wonder if Im rating the correct beer here -- some seem to have had much more pleasant experiences of it. Meanwhile, Im seriously considering giving up on czech beer altogether...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear amber brown color. Medium, frothy head. Herbal and grassy aroma with distinct sour yeasty notes and light sulphurous, resinous feel. Crisp grassy hops initially, Moderate sweet molasses, caramel and liquorice mouthfeel leading to crisp herbal, slightly roasted bitternes.
Light to medium bodied, lively carbonation. Quite unique.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2008 Courtesy of Degarth. Pours clear brown-ish amber with thin tan head. The aroma is fruity with plums, cherries, prunes and raisins. Very little malt noticed. The taste is mildly fruity with esters moving into a note of malt astringency tartness then a pretty solid smokiness. Midway and into the finish a Munich like grainy malt rises up to join the smoke sensation. Pretty cool.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Deep ruby colour (near black), small beigeish brown head. Aroma is mild caramel malts, sugar and some balancing mild notes of hops. Flavour is much the same. Compared to the Velikonoční Podkrkonosky Speciál Tmavý, this one lacks the candyish sweetness and pretty much the roasted notes.
Earlier Rating: 4/3/2007 Total Score: 3.3
Bottled. Dark rubyish brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel and some sweet dark sugary notes. Flavour is caramel, toffee, slightly roaste dmalts and some hops. Candyish sweetness lurking in the background. Not too bad.

A Budapesti Cseh Sörfesztivál egyik legjobb söre volt az én számomra!Finom pörkölt magos, kávés és nem túl édes!Nagy kár hogy egyenlőre csak a fesztivál idején lehetett kapni!
