50 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted and malty. Sweet malty, light cornish syrupy. Roasted malt and slight dark toffee caramelish. Slight acidic to vague citric into a malt driven finish. Rather fruity into the far finish.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a lazing light tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and a bit of metal, leading to a nicely bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of oh6gdx. Pours a clear warm orangey brown with a creamy beige head leaving some laces. Roasted malt in the nose - and a little smoke?? Solid body with a massive malt base. Roasted malts, sweet caramel and a whiff of glue. Again a whiff of smoke. Quite some bitterness in the finish. Not really a Dunkel at 6.3% right? And the smoky accents confuse. 230310

Bottled. Deep ruby colour (near black), small beigeish brown head. Aroma is mild caramel malts, sugar and some balancing mild notes of hops. Flavour is much the same. Compared to the Velikonoční Podkrkonošsky Speciál Tmavý, this one lacks the candyish sweetness and pretty much the roasted notes.
Earlier Rating: 4/3/2007 Total Score: 3.3
Bottled. Dark rubyish brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel and some sweet dark sugary notes. Flavour is caramel, toffee, slightly roaste dmalts and some hops. Candyish sweetness lurking in the background. Not too bad.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2009 Bottle, 6.3%. Mild caramelly aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. Nice stable light brown head. Sweet flavour, OK roasted. 6 3 6 3 13

Draught. Mild earthy aroma. Dark brown colour, seems clear. Small light brown head. The flavour is roasted with enough sweetness to balance. A little earth like in the aroma and a good smoke note. High bitterness, slightly unpleasant, but a good beer. 7 3 7 3 15

Bottled (BB 08/2007)
Very dark brown, small tan head. Toasted sugar and caramel aroma. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Caramelly, but not really sweet - more roasted ryeish malty and dry. Dry mouthfeel in the aftertaste with roasted flavors. Some bitter hops rise in the aftertaste too. Grassy hops and toasted flavors linger long in the mouth. Someway interesting but not really too enjoyable to drink more than once.
