On tap at the brew house. Pours almost black with a talll light tan head. Light roastiness and very smooth body with a bit of a fruity estery finish, maybe cherry and bread with a bit of chocolate up front. Very silky on the palate with a nice balance to it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2008 First experience on tap at the brewpub, in 2005:
Portentous caramel and its companion butterscotch cover the quaint roastiness. Another great lingering head (as is Czech tap tradition it seems) beckons a dive for a hearty sip.
Just like their Svetlé, this beer’s flavors offer exactly what the aroma had sent. A few fruity esters become more obvious (cherries for example), and the caramel and butterscotch sweetness create a stout-y feel for a dunkel. Body is quite watery though, which doesn’t help the sweetness much. Gets heavier and more tiring through the pint. 3.3/5
The lightest item at a candy shop is still some sort of candy.
Second tap experience, in 2008:
A buttery touch didn’t agree with the dry roastiness and the fruity presence got dusty with because of the fatiguing yeast. Not nearly as good as 3 years ago. 2.5/5

On tap at the restaurant. Meaty brown color with a thin, light tan head. Mild yeast and malt flavors, but they don’t stick around long. The pils isn’t worth your time either, and the food costs twice what you’d pay in any other pub in the city. A complete tourist trap.

Brown/redish colour. Thin head. Aroma from red berries. Chewy, sugary, malty flavour with hints of almond.

500 ml swingtop bottle, bought at the brewpub. Colour of this unfiltered and unpasteurised beer is hazy reddish brown. Pours with an enormous light tan head, which soon diminishes. Aroma is very malty (typical dunkel) with caramel and hints of oak and yeast. Quite flavourful for a beer this low ABV, plenty of malts and toffee, but low on hops. Smooth and easy drinking. The bottles were overpriced by Czech standards, but a Norwegian won’t mind!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap@Novomestsky. Quite, smooth and sweetish. Light woody and slightly roasted, some caramel. Minimla hop bitterness in the finish. Easy to drink, but unexciting.

The best dunkel during my last visit to Praque. Appearence is beautifull with its dark colour and its big beige head. Aroma is malty and roasted. Flavor is malty and has some sweetness. Palate is very good.

Draught. Chestnut brown with nice creamy head. Malty, sweet aroma. Roasted and slightly sweet flavour. Very nice malt taste. Caramel-like. Only minus is that is seems a bit thin.
