Bottle. Black colour with a medium dark brown head. Aroma of roasty and sweet malt with some chocolate. Flavour of roasty malt indeed with chocolate and coffee, a little fruit too. Dry. Bitter roasty finish. Tasty indeed!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This poured a very dark brown (not black) with a vanishing brown head. The aroma is roasted barley and coffee, and so is the flavor. It finishes on a dry, mildly bitter note, some earthy hops coming to light at the very end. It’s a solid example of a dry stout, which is probably why I don’t care for it that much.

Dark brown color, small head. Deeply roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Nice balance. A medium bodied stout. Tasty beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and rather dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Thanks Shachar. Best before 11/08. Black-colored with a huge bubbly, strange-shaped, slowly-diminishing, brown head. Aroma has some chocolate, some licorice and some coffee candies. Nice sweetish roasted flavor with coffee. Medium-bodied. Not bad at all in spite of the best before date.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Black, very thick pour ... tarry syrup. Very small dark head, dies immediately. Beautifully complex nose, roasty and sweet with nutty wafts, milk chocolate and tannic wine. On the tongue, not quite so impressive though still good: very very dry at the front, hints of fruit in the middle, and bitter, roasty finish. A bit on the thin side for a stout I think.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2007 I got this beer through my beer club. I am not familiar with the brewer. I think that this beer is a fine representation of the dry Irish stout style but unfortunately I do not particularly like this style of beer so that does drag down the rating some. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours thick and black with a very large dark brown head. The aroma is bitter and has a strong dry roasty malt presence. The flavor is strong roasty malts with a bitter coffee finish and a bitter floral hop finish. The finish is rather bitter indeed. Very well done to style, but again the style does not suit me. I think that if one was inclined to dry Irish stouts then one would find this a fine brew.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Courtesy of Degarth via trade. Aroma has lots of roasted coffee and grain with a moderate chocolate and nuttiness. Pours a very dark brown with no transparency and a tan head that fades quickly. Flavor is very roasty from start to finish. More so with grains and burnt malt up front and bitter black coffee in the finish. Finish has some light fruitiness as welll. Chocolate is hidden in the background.

Body is very dark with a small brown head. No carbonation. Aroma is roasted coffee. First taste results in a feeling of harsh bitterness. There is very little sweetness in the flavor and not a lot of zest, either.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from strykzone. Thaks Dave! I found this to be a pretty typical dry stout. Roasted malts and a faint dark chocolate character highlight the aroma and flavor components of this not-so-sweet elixir. Puts me to sleep and I dump the rest out the next morning.
