Bottle into English pint glass. Put this one down in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Poured a rich, almost black color. Head was a dense, dark khaki color. Not much head, but I suspect I was pouring the beer a bit too cold. Aroma of very roasted malts, but a hint of something sweet that took the edge off. None of the coffee that seems to be de riguer for stouts and porters these days. Drinks very rich and creamy, strong strong roasted maltiness. Leaves the mouth clean despite all those powerful sensations. Aftertaste is smoky (like everything else about this brew) and malty and pleasant. I’m not prepared to switch over to the "dark side", but this was an enjoyable stout, particularly appropriate to the holiday. Cheers!

Beer of the month club. Pretty nice stout here, smooth with good flavor, and drinkable. Wouldn’t call it an overly bold stout, but everything doesn’t have to be bold.

Pours a thick blackish color topped with a fairly thick tan head. The aroma is a pretty strong coffee smell. Not a bad amount of lace left on this one, but the head diminished a little bit. The flavor is pretty good but the only thing I really detected was a coffee taste with maybe some chocolate a slight bitter hops taste mixed in.

Duane shared a 12 oz bottle. Not much going on here. Dark brown pour with no head. Light coffee and chocolate aroma and flavor. Thin on the palate and somewhat uninteresting and unimpressive. Nothing offensive, but nothing really pops out as exceptional about this stout.

Black color with a light aroma and taste. Pronounced whiffs of roasted coffee and chocolate. Palate is thin. Conceptually this beer is a good idea that’s poorly executed. Another BOMC selection that’s underwhelming.

Pours black with a nice dark brown head. Aroma is extremely light, but has a bit of roasted coffee and chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma with light coffee and dark chocolate notes, but anise seems to dominate the fairly light flavor. Palate is a bit thin, but still has an oily aspect, and virtually no finish. Not bad, but nothing special at all.
