Basalt black, slightly fizzy tan head. Sharp crisp edge, presumably new-world aromatic hops, to an otherwise sweet stout aroma. Lively carbonation, crisp in the mouth. Some soapiness in the taste, but otherwise solid but refreshing stout. Good gingery bite, and dry burntness too. Long tingly hoppy finish. Quite sweet, but refreshing. pivnizub (3768), Porúří, Germany Aug 13, 2008 Bottle (RBESG 08): Deep amber coloured with a beige head; leather and liquorice in the dry malty nose, roasted grains in the background; full dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied; quite short dry bitter-malty and a bit chocolatey finish. Not too impressive............. DSG (835), Yuvalim, Israel Aug 9, 2008 (6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Dark brown to black, not opaque, with a beige head. Aroma of nice roasted malt, big chocolate character, some coffee and light hoppiness. Sweet malty flavor with roastiness, some burnt notes and chocolate. Finishes with light hoppiness. Medium-bodied, a bit light for an Imperial Stout. A nice one. Bov (4604), Bienne, Switzerland Aug 8, 2008 courtesy of Per - dark black with a persistent little dark beige foam; strong notes of ashes with some fruits and chocolate in the background; soft mouthfeel, medium-bodied, sweet and a bit salty; quite dry; long aftertaste of ashes, figs and licorice - full of character and very similar to Cieux IS Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 5, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Hazy orangey brown with a dense, beige head.
